 Marcus Mariota gets the start in Week 15
Jayden Daniels expected to play at some point

|  | Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (left elbow) won’t be cleared by doctors this week, so Marcus Mariota will start Sunday vs. the Giants, Dan Quinn said.
No structural damage and nothing long term. But he did aggravate the injury on his fall last week so they’re proceeding carefully. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Good and bad news for Daniels as he is expected to play at some point but just not in Week 15. Of course, why would Washington risk Daniels when they have no shot at making the playoffs? This week, Mariota gets a positive matchup against the Giants who've given up the 5th most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

| | It’s good that the X rays were negative. The MRI this morning is the key and will tell the story for Jayden Daniels. Will reveal ligament damage and if he needs surgery etc. and that will determine the length of recovery. (John Keim on X)
FFToday's Take: It's been an injury-filled season for Daniels who has been bothered by knee and hamstring issue early in 2025 before dislocating his elbow in Week 9. He's sure to miss a good portion of, if not all of the rest of the season. Marcus Mariota will step into the starting quarterback role for Washington who have their bye in Week 12. The Commanders were without Terry McLaurin (quad) in Week 9 as well.

Hamstring injury

FFToday's Take: Daniels left early in Week 7 with a hamstring injury and will now miss Monday night's game in Week 8 against the Chiefs. Being ruled out this early is typically is cause for alarm and doesn't bode well for his chances to play in Week 9. The Commanders bye is in Week 12. Marcus Mariota will have some plug and play appeal given his rushing ability, but is probably capped at a low-end QB1 in this matchup with the Chiefs.

FFToday's Take: The Commanders will roll with Marcus Mariota for a second straight week at quarterback while their receiver room loses it's top option. Mariota posted a rushing line of 6-40-1 last week against the Raiders and will need something similar this week to pay off a QB1 performance against the Falcons. Deebo Samuel stands to benefit from McLaurin's absence.

FFToday's Take: Daniels came out of Week 2 with a sprained knee and won't face the Raiders in Week 3. Mariota is a downgrade for the offense but this isn't a terrible matchup as the Raiders rank middle of the pack against QBs through two games. Mariota profiles as a low-end QB2 and a worthy of consideration in Superflex leagues.
