2023 Outlook
Depth Chart
Although no one truly doubted Adams could remain an elite talent without Aaron Rodgers, it was still nice to see him prove it a year ago, catching 100 passes for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns from the combination of Carr and Jarrett Stidham. It marked the fourth time in the last five years that Adams has reached triple digits in receptions, topped 1,350 yards, and scored double-digit TDs. While others may have surpassed the 30-year-old wideout physically, he remains arguably the best route runner in the business, and his red-zone exploits are elite with 83 touchdowns over the past seven seasons.

Durability is another strong suit. After playing all 17 games in 2022, Adams has now missed two games or fewer in all but two of his nine NFL campaigns, and he's never appeared in less than 12. Partnering with Garoppolo probably represents the low-water mark in terms of talent at the position, not counting games started by backups, but Jimmy G can deliver the ball on time, and the veteran QB been around long enough to know he needs to feed the ball to a player of Adams' caliber. Adams remains a solid WR1, though he should go after names like Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase.

Raiders part ways with head coach and GM
Josh McDaniels, Dave Ziegler fired after going 9-16 in 1 1/2 seasons
By: Doug Orth | Wed Nov 1, 1:30 am

Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have fired head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler, the team announced on Tuesday night. "After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave," owner Mark Davis said in a statement. "I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best." (Around the NFL)

FFToday's Take: The duo's fate was likely sealed after getting dominated on Monday Night Football by the Lions 24 hours earlier. Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce appears to be the early favorite to serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Fantasy managers can only hope that Pierce will emphasize the importance of keeping Davante Adams heavily involved moving forward.

Injury Jimmy Garoppolo will start in Week 8
Back injury

Las Vegas Raiders
#Raiders HC Josh McDaniels said QB Jimmy Garoppolo is good to go Monday. He said CB Jakorian Bennett and CB Nate Hobbs are trending in the right direction, too. K Daniel Carlson remains up in the air. (Tashan Reed on X)

FFToday's Take: Garoppolo missed last week with a back issue but has been practicing this week and should be out there Monday night against the Lions. That's good news for Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in the passing game. The Lions have given up the 8th most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Aidan O’Connell expected to start at QB for Raiders
Rookie got most of first team reps
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 1, 7:00 am

Las Vegas Raiders
With veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo out due to a concussion, Las Vegas has decided to start rookie fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell versus the Chargers, per sources. Raiders’ rookie QB Aidan O'Connell got the majority -- if not all -- of the first-team reps at practice by the end of the week. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: The Raiders will turn to rookie QB Aidan O'Connell who played reasonably well in the pre-season, leading all quarterbacks in passer rating. He gets the nod over veteran Brian Hoyer. How much this move affects Davante Adams remains to be seen but he and Jakobi Meyers are riskier plays with the QB rookie in the mix.

Injury Jimmy Garoppolo out for Week 4
Concussion
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 30, 6:15 pm

Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders ruled out QB Jimmy Garoppolo for Sunday’s game at the Chargers due to the concussion he suffered vs. the Steelers. Garoppolo practiced in limited fashion Thursday and Friday, but was unable to clear protocol in time for Sunday and is not traveling to Los Angeles. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Garoppolo on the shelf, the Raiders will go with either rookie Aidan O'Connell or veteran QB Brian Hoyer at quarterback. Either way, this negatively affects the outlook of the entire offense and puts a wet blanket on the fantasy prospects of Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers.

Injury Jakobi Meyers unlikely to play in Week 2, concussion
Raiders WR still in concussion protocol
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 15, 10:59 am

Las Vegas Raiders
#Raiders coach Josh McDaniels indicates that WR Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is doubtful to play this week. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Raiders used a lot of two TE sets in Week 1 with Davante Adams and Meyers operating out wide, but with Myers is still in the concussion protocol, the Raiders are likely to increase the opportunities for Hunter Renfrow who played just 22% of the snaps in Week 1. Still, you'll need a leap of faith to play Renfrow in your Flex spot.
