2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
It's a very rare thing to have to scroll so far down the rankings to find A.J. Green's name. One of the most solidly consistent fantasy receivers of the last decade, Green enters his age 30 season at a serious crossroads. He missed seven games due to injury last year, and has had three fairly lackluster seasons in a row now. Entering the final year of his contract, Green is going to need a big year to cash in.

Coming off toe surgery, things sound great for Green this offseason. He looks to be full go for training camp later this month, and seems excited about the energy that a new head coach has brought to the offense. If he's truly over the toe injury that has lingered for years, and if Coach Taylor can indeed breathe some life into the playbook, look for Green to find his rightful place back in the top 10 at his position.

Injury A.J. Green out indefinitely?
Setback with left ankle injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 7, 11:50 pm

Oakland Raiders
A.J. Green said he will likely not make his season debut Sunday against Baltimore after his left ankle did not respond well to workouts earlier this week. Following Monday's off-week practice, Green said he experienced swelling that derailed his plans of participating in Wednesday's practice. The ninth-year receiver said he doesn't know how long he will need to stay off the ankle as he continues the rehab process. The ninth-year receiver said he's still optimistic that he can play at some point in 2019 but wouldn't feel comfortable returning to the field without being able to go through a full practice. (ESPN - Ben Baby)

FFToday's Take: There's really no way to know if/when Green will make his 2019 debut. It's entirely possible either he or the team opts for an IR stint. For what it's worth, Green said the swelling wasn't as severe as it was a couple of weeks ago. If that is the case, there's at least a small chance he tries to practice next week. If he does make it back soon, it's going to be hard for owners to consider him anything more than an WR2 with rookie Ryan Finley as his quarterback.

Injury A.J. Green doesn't think he's going to play Sunday
Ankle, contract issue
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 7, 1:28 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green says ankle is swollen. Asked if he is going to play Sunday: “Probably not.” (Paul Dehner Jr. on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: So much for the Green debut in Week 10. It's tough to gauge how much this is related to his ankle or his contract, but it's probably a little of both. With Andy Dalton on the bench, the Bengals will roll out Ryan Finley at quarterback and Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Alex Erickson at receiver against the Ravens.

Injury A.J. Green misses practice Wednesday
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 6, 2:35 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Zac Taylor says A.J. Green didn’t feel great coming out of walkthrough so they held him out of practice. Taylor found out when he went out to practice. Now calling A.J. day to day. (Paul Dehner Jr. on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This after Taylor said Green would be play on Sunday. If Green got a new contract this week, he'd probably feel healthy enough to play. This soap opera will continue and hopefully we'll have a better idea of Green's status on Friday.

Ryan Finley to start at QB after Bengals' bye
Andy Dalton benched after nine seasons at helm in Cincy
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 29, 2:01 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Tom Pelissero on Twitter: "Sources: The #Bengals are making a QB change after the bye. Andy Dalton goes to the bench. Rookie Ryan Finley expected to start. More right now on @nflnetwork" (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The decision to bench Andy Dalton after almost nine seasons at the helm was probably a tough one, but it's not a terrible decision for the organization. Finley was the No. 104 overall pick and was mostly a game manager type in the preseason. He's unlikely to emerge as a long-term solution in Cincinnati, but he will have A.J. Green for Week 10 against the Ravens. He's off the fantasy radar and has similar upside to Brandon Allen in Denver.

Injury A.J. Green has a shot to play in Week 8
WR must practice in full in order for it to happen
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 21, 5:40 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Zac Taylor says he won’t rule A.J. Green (ankle) playing this week, but he says he also won’t roll him out there until he practices full go and that is day-to-day. (Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson)

FFToday's Take: Green figures to be the driving force here, as the winless Bengals don't have a lot of motivation at this point to rush him back. Cincinnnati has bye in Week 9, making it even more likely he doesn't play this week. There is no question he would provide a huge list, although his absence is far from the offense's only problem. Nonetheless, he could easily produce at a high-end WR2/low-end WR1 level upon his return if he is close to 100 percent.

Injury A.J. Green out for Week 6
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 7, 2:00 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals coach Zac Taylor said he didn't have an update on wide receiver A.J. Green (ankle) other than he will not make his season debut this weekend versus the Ravens. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Damion Willis will continue to be used as the top receivers while Green is sidelined. The Ravens have given up the 11th most fantasy points to wide receivers.

Injury John Ross lands on IR
Shoulder injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 2, 1:20 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals placed WR John Ross on the Reserve/Injured list and signed WR Stanley Morgan from their practice squad. (Adam Teicher on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Ross suffered a sternoclavicular injury during Monday’s game at Pittsburgh. He is eligible to return in 8 weeks but this move basically kills his value for the fantasy football regular season. Auden Tate should see an increased role while A.J. Green remains out.

Injury John Ross expected to miss multiple games
Shoulder injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Oct 1, 5:14 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
#Bengals WR John Ross is expected to miss multiple games with a shoulder injury suffered last night vs. the #Steelers, sources say. Could be in the range of a month or so. (Mike Garafolo on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With A.J. Green still a few weeks away, the Bengals are down another receiver. Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate should be the most targeted wide receivers for Andy Dalton this week against a porous Cardinals defense.

Injury A.J. Green out at least through Week 6
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 30, 8:36 am

Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati’s wait for the return of Pro Bowl WR A.J. Green will continue on….and potentially on and on. Green will not play Monday night against the Steelers, and he is not expected to play at least the next two weeks, either, against Arizona and at Baltimore, per sources. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Green's return is targeted for Week 7 against Jacksonville. The Bengals have a bye in Week 9. Tyler Boyd, John Ross and Auden Tate will be the top receivers on the depth chart until Green returns.

Injury Week 3 best case scenario for A.J. Green?
Ankle injury expected cost him regular-season games
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 26, 7:15 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
There is no updated timetable for A.J. Green since head coach Zac Taylor confirmed the receiver would miss multiple regular-season games. He is still rolling around on a knee scooter and has yet to begin on-field rehab work. Week 3 would still seem to be a best-case scenario for a return. (The Athletic - Jay Morrison)

FFToday's Take: Owners hoping for an early return from a player they might have seen as a WR1 at a discount may have to wait a little longer. At this point, owners might just want to write off Green through the end of September. With one of the more challenging matchup schedules among receivers this year and brutal slate during fantasy playoff time, it might be wise to steer clear of Green in 2019.
