2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
It might be surprising to hear, but Emmanuel Sanders was actually the WR12 in fantasy prior to rupturing his Achilles in Week 13. The veteran has been a mainstay in the Denver offense but it was not expected that the Broncos would bring him back in 2019 after such a devastating injury, given that the team is essentially in rebuilding mode. They did make the move to bring him back, however, and now all eyes are on his recovery.

Sanders has been providing his Instagram followers with glimpses of his offseason workout, but he has not been able to get on the field yet in 2019. There is legitimate concern that he may not be ready to start the regular season which would be a huge blow for fantasy owners who are drafting him around the 10th round in ADP.

Most players have historically needed about a full calendar year to recover from a ruptured Achilles. We'd want to see that Sanders is able to get back on the field and start moving around like he did prior to the injury before we deploy him in fantasy. If Sanders is able to play in the preseason, it'd be one of the fastest recoveries from the injury that we've ever seen, so the chances of that happening are pretty slim. The most likely scenario is that he'll start the season on the PUP list, which means he'll be out for at least six games. That's almost half of a typical fantasy football regular season.

Sanders is the only proven, productive pass catcher in this offense and he will likely see the highest target share of the bunch of he's healthy to start the season, but there's no question that the team is looking to get their young receivers - particularly Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton - more involved this season. The lack of true upside in a Joe Flacco-led offense and the Achilles' injury combined with emerging young receivers makes Sanders a very risky pick where he's currently being drafted. We'll likely see this number change throughout the season as we get more information and inch closer to the start of the preseason and eventually the regular season, but Sanders looks like a bust waiting to happen at his current ADP.

Injury Emmanuel Sanders will practice on limited basis
Will not go on PUP list to start camp

Denver Broncos
Emmanuel Sanders will not go on PUP list. Will start practicing tomorrow on limited basis. Good sign. (Mike Klis on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Broncos are reporting to training camp today and as expected, Sanders will begin working out on a limited basis, hoping to be active in team drills some time in August. Sanders is recovering from an Achilles injury raising red flags about his 2019 fantasy value. Sanders, Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton sit atop the Broncos wide receiver depth chart.

Injury Courtland Sutton think's he's the No.1 WR
Sanders not expected to be ready until mid- to late-August
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Jul 9, 11:15 pm

Denver Broncos
"I’m excited going into this season knowing that I am going to get to be the No. 1 and I’ll get all of the looks and all of the pressure,’’ he said. If new passer Joe Flacco and the Broncos’ offense under new coordinator Rich Scangarello are to make an immediate positive impact in 2019, Sutton must do more in year two. Emmanuel Sanders, who was the team’s No. 1 receiver last year until he suffered a late-season Achilles injury, is not expected to be full-go for team drills until mid- to late-August. (9News.com)

FFToday's Take: With Sanders recovering from Achilles injury, Courtland Sutton has an opportunity to become the Broncos main receiving target in 2019. Whether or not he takes advantage of the opportunity is another story. The Broncos reciving corps is young with DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick filling out the top four on the depth chart. Sutton is worthy of a mid-round flier in both standard and PPR leagues.

Injury Emmanuel Sanders remains hopeful for Week 1
Recovering from late season Achilles injury
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jul 1, 11:15 pm

Denver Broncos
Emmanuel Sanders said being available for the Broncos’ opener “feels realistic” but he’s unwilling to a concrete timetable on his comeback from an Achilles injury. Said he’s confident he can have a Pro Bowl season once ready. (The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala)

FFToday's Take: Even given how far modern medicine has come in recent years, Sanders' optimism could very well prove to be unfounded. He's a 32-year-old receiver whose game relies heavily on speed and quickness - both of which figure to be affected by his injury. While he figures to remain a key part of the offense, it is unlikely he will be able to top last season's 71-868-4 line.

Injury No timetable for Emmanuel Sanders return
Recovering from Achilles injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed May 8, 7:00 am

Denver Broncos
A day after running at full speed, Emmanuel Sanders declined to put a timetable on his return from an Achilles injury. “We’ll see,” Sanders said Tuesday when asked if he expected to return in time for the start of training camp. “You know how the trainers are. We’re not going to put a date on anything. We’re just going to take it one day at a time. Hopefully I’m back out there by then, but if I’m not, I’m not going to rush it. I’m going to take my time and make sure I’m 100 percent by the time I get on the field.” (DenverBroncos.com)

FFToday's Take: Sanders was injured on December 5th, 2018 and given the length of time it takes to fully recover from an Achilles injury it won't be a surprise if Sanders comes out to the gate slow to start the season. Hopefully he can begin practicing in full at some point during training camp.
