A.J. Brown trade to the Patriots considered likely
Waiting until after June 1st will spread cap hit over two seasons
By: Mike Krueger | Apr 20 2026, 6:31 am

The Eagles remain open to trading A.J. Brown, the Patriots remain highly interested in acquiring the star receiver, and conversations are expected to resume shortly on or before June 1, likely culminating in a deal, per league sources. As one source said about the Patriots' pursuit of Brown, they'll “definitely be engaging then.” A trade to New England is now considered likely. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Brown is not expected to attend the Eagles off-season workout program which begins today. If the two sides wait until after June 1st, then the Eagles will be able to spread out the $40 million cap hit over the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The Eagles have been stockpiling wide receivers this off-season, bringing in free agents Marquise Brown and Elijah Moore and trading for Packers wideout Dontayvion Wicks.
