Brock Purdy a long shot to play in Week 2
Toe and Shoulder injuries
By: Mike Krueger | Sep 10 2025, 5:33 pm

Brock Purdy is dealing with toe and left shoulder injuries that happened in the second quarter of Sunday's win against the Seattle Seahawks. Coach Kyle Shanahan has indicated that the toe is the bigger concern and said Wednesday that it's unlikely Purdy will play against the Saints. "I think it's a long shot," Shanahan said. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: After being one of the most injured teams in the league last season, the 49ers are picking up right where they left off. TE George Kittle has already been placed on IR and now it appears Mac Jones will get the call in relief of Purdy against the Saints. Shanahan is hopeful WR Jauan Jennings (shoulder) will be able to play. The matchup isn't a difficult one but a low-end QB2 seems like the median outcome for Jones in Week 2.
