| Joe Mixon headed to NFI list RB to miss at least first four games with ankle issue By: Doug Orth | Aug 26 2025, 9:30 pm

| Texans are not activating RB Joe Mixon by Tuesday’s 4 pm ET deadline, making him ineligible to play at least the first four games this season due to an ankle injury.
Mixon will be moved to Reserve/Non-Football Injury, which automatically rules him out for at least four games. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)
FFToday's Take: By all accounts, Mixon did not participate in OTAs or has not practiced at all since the team reported to training camp. At this point, it would be shocking if he is ready to practice - much less play - by Week 5. Fantasy managers should not expect Mixon to contribute in a meaningful way until at least Week 8 - especially considering he has likely done little more than take mental reps in new OC Nick Caley's offense. Nick Chubb and Dameon Pierce - assuming the latter is not cut on Tuesday - is expected to handle most of the early-down work, while rookie Woody Marks should take most of the work in the passing game.
