John Metchie III diagnosed with leukemia Texans rookie wideout likely to miss 2022 season By: Mike Krueger | Jul 24 2022, 1:30 pm
"Recently I was diagnosed with APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia), the most curable form of Leukemia. I am currently receiving great medical care, am in good spirits and I expect to make a recovery at a later point in time. As a result of this diagnosis, I will likely not be playing football this season. My main focus will be on my health and recovery." - John Metchie (Texans on Twitter)
FFToday's Take:The good news is, he expects to make a full recovery in hopes of playing in the 2023 season. Metchie was selected by the Texans in the 2nd round of this year's draft. Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins remain the top two options for the Texans at wide receiver.
