| Bryan Edwards, John Brown battling for starting spot? Raiders camp battle at receiver By: Mike Krueger | Jul 5 2021, 11:00 am
| The plan is for Ruggs and second-year wideout Bryan Edwards to start, as they did last season in Week 1. Edwards, of course, got hurt and never got his job back from Nelson Agholor. He’ll (John Brown) compete for one of the starting outside receiver jobs but also has the ability to play in the slot. Brown will compete with Ruggs and Edwards for a starting role, but the Raiders likely hope their young duo emerges and takes control of the starting jobs. (The Athletic)
FFToday's Take: As noted by the beat writer, Edwards has the typical size teams are looking for in a starting "X" receiver and the fact the Brown can play all the positions would make him an ideal fill-in as needed. Still, we haven't seen Edwards succeed at the NFL level and he could easily flop and be replaced at anytime. With Hunter Renfrow locked into the slot role, the Edwards-Brown camp battle will be one to watch this Summer.
