George Kittle ruled out with knee sprain

By: Mike Krueger | Sep 18 2020, 4:45 pm

George Kittle was ruled out for their Week 2 game against the New York Jets with a knee sprain, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. Kittle will remain in the Bay Area for a couple of extra days of recovery before joining the team for the week in West Virginia as they prepare for their Week 3 game against the New York Giants. FFToday's Take: With Kittle out, Jordan Reed will step into a starting role and is a decent low-end TE1 option given the lack of pass catching weapons for Jimmy Garoppolo. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk will see his first action of the season after sitting out Week 1 with a hamstring injury.
