Alex Smith cleared for football activities
Tibia and fibula fracture in 2018
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 24 2020, 7:12 pm

Washington quarterback Alex Smith, who suffered a devastating tibia and fibula fracture in 2018, has received clearance from his surgical team to return to full football activity. Smith is going through COVID-19 testing and expects to report Monday to the team's facility, where he will undergo a team physical. Once there, the team is expected to determine the next steps for Smith's eventual participation in training camp. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: What a remarkable story. Smith has spent over year and half recovering from his gruesome leg injury. It's unclear exactly what his role will be with the team in 2020 but it can be argued he has more skills than Dwayne Haskins. A lack of a normal training camp is likely going to limit his chance of winning the starting QB job.
