Melvin Gordon threatens training camp holdout
Gordon heading into the last year of his contract
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 11 2019, 10:00 am

Running back Melvin Gordon has informed the Los Angeles Chargers that, unless he receives a new contract, he will not report to training camp and he will demand a trade, his agent Fletcher Smith told ESPN. Gordon is scheduled to be heading into the last year of his contract, a fifth-year option, worth $5.6 million dollars. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: This agent report indicates Gordon wants to be paid along side the likes of Todd Gurley, David Johnson and Le'Veon Bell. While training camp holdouts tend to work themselves out, this one will be worth watching given Gordon's RB1 status. Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson and Detrez Newsome are next up on the Chargers depth chart.
