| Roethlisberger, Steelers talking extension Turns 37 in March By: Doug Orth | Jan 24 2019, 2:30 pm

| Steelers President Art Rooney II joined Steelers Nation Unite members on Wednesday afternoon for his annual season-ending edition of “The Huddle.” He discussed a wide variety of topics during the 20-minute call, including future of Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh.
“Ben has one more year left on his existing contract and we’ve already started talking to him and his representative about extending that contract. ... He’s still, I would say, close to being in the prime of his career,” Rooney said. (Steelers.com)
FFToday's Take: Roethlisberger is coming off a season in which he threw for the seventh-most yards in NFL history (5,129) and a career-high 34 touchdown passes, so it's not a surprise extension talk has replaced Big Ben's usual pondering about retirement. Pittsburgh and Antonio Brown will need to make nice with each other this offseason if Roethlisberger hopes to repeat his success in 2018, but Big Ben should remain firmly in the QB1 discussion regardless.
