| Tight end Isaiah Likely signed a 3-year, $40 million deal with the New York Giants. This move finally allows Likely to step out of Mark Andrews' shadow after spending his first few seasons in Baltimore. Is this the opportunity he needs to become a reliable fantasy tight end? At only 25 years old, Likely has the potential to become the
number two passing weapon on a very young team with a bright future.
What ripple effects does Likely's signing have for dynasty managers? Buy: QB Jaxson Dart, NYGThe 2025 NFL Draft was not loaded with quarterback talent, but Jaxson Dart looks like one of the more exciting young passers to enter the league in recent years. Dart has the rushing upside to make him a top-10 fantasy quarterback and the passing skills to elevate himself into the top five if everything develops correctly. One of the biggest knocks against Dart coming into the league -- and even recently -- has been his pass-catching weapons. Malik Nabers is a phenomenal receiver, but many felt Wan'Dale Robinson was a replaceable talent despite his fantasy productivity. With Isaiah Likely now in the fold, those concerns begin to fade. While the receiving corps is not completely fixed, Dart now has another dynamic weapon who can create after the catch. Dart excels at quick reads to the outside of the field in the 5-to-15-yard range, which is also where Likely has proven to be an effective receiver. Likely's ability after the catch means he doesn't need to be a downfield target to generate production. That should help Dart as he continues to develop his already quick processing against defenses. Combined with Nabers and the pass-catching ability of Cam Skattebo, we could easily see Dart jump from the 18-passing-touchdown pace he was on last season into the high 20s or even reach 30 touchdowns. If he gets to that mark, his dynasty value would rise significantly. Dart is currently valued around QB10 in most dynasty rankings, but he could realistically finish closer to QB5 now that Likely is in the offense. He finished as QB14 last season despite playing only 14 games and playing nearly the entire year without Nabers. The loss of Wan'Dale Robinson is easily offset by the addition of Likely. Sell: RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., NYGThe writing has been on the wall for Tyrone Tracy and his dynasty managers since the Giants drafted Cam Skattebo last year. With Likely now joining the offense, this might be the final nail in the coffin. Tracy had already begun losing early-down work to Skattebo. His remaining value largely came from Skattebo's late-season injury, which allowed Tracy to handle the lion's share of touches down the stretch. However, there are already rumors that the Giants could add another running back through free agency or the draft. That would only push Tracy further down the depth chart and limit his opportunities even more. Tracy did carve out a role in the passing game last season, but the addition of Likely could threaten that usage. Nearly half of Tracy's fantasy production came through the air. It wasn't a particularly high-volume receiving role to begin with, and now the Giants have added a pass-catching tight end who will command targets. Tracy finished fourth on the team in targets last season but saw only 43 total looks. That's a relatively low number for a running back. He's also not a specialized receiving back in the mold of Alvin Kamara. You can likely still get something for Tracy right now, especially with Skattebo recovering from an ankle injury that could limit him early in the season. The longer you hold Tracy, the riskier it becomes. At any point the Giants could sign another running back, which would likely crush whatever value he has left unless he ends up being traded or released. Deep Stash: TE Theo Johnson, NYGThere are only a handful of people who still believe in Theo Johnson. After a disappointing rookie season in 2024 that was shortened by injury, he followed it up with an inconsistent 2025 campaign while adjusting to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and splitting time with fellow tight end Daniel Bellinger. I've always been high on Johnson, and I'm not giving up on him simply because the Giants signed Isaiah Likely. We have already seen flashes of what Johnson can do. In 2025, he posted seven games with more than 10 fantasy points, and three of those performances came without a touchdown. He's a versatile tight end who can chip block when lined up in-line or operate effectively from the slot. He's also a tall red-zone target who led the Giants with 14 red-zone targets in 2025. The addition of Likely does raise concerns about snap share and target volume. However, we've seen offenses successfully utilize two tight ends before, particularly in systems that emphasize versatility at the position. While Johnson is not Mark Andrews, the Giants could deploy packages that allow both tight ends to contribute. That might limit the weekly fantasy ceiling for both players while they share the field, but Johnson would have significant upside if Likely were to miss time. His acquisition cost is so low that he remains worth stashing, even if the offense eventually shifts toward using a single primary tight end. |
