Prescott has played solid ball in two games this season, as the
offense has had to carry the load for a mediocre Cowboy defense.
He lit the Giants up last week for over 360 yards, and now gets
to face a reeling Bears defense that is missing several starters.
Dallas breaks in a new center this week, but Chicago just doesn’t
display the internal push to disrupt passers. Also in Prescott’s
favor is the putrid state of the Cowboy pass defense. If Caleb Williams
can get out of his own way, this has a chance to be high scoring,
as Vegas has the game as the 2nd highest point total (50.5) of the
week.
Maye was a popular pick to be among fantasy’s biggest risers
at quarterback and he hasn’t disappointed. He completed
a slick 82% of his passes last week, and has accounted for four
touchdowns over the season’s first two weeks. He looks comfortable
playing within the framework of the offense, but has the athleticism
to go off script. Pittsburgh’s steel curtain defense looks
like it’s made out of soft satin, as injuries along the
defensive line have contributed to yielding the 4th most points
per game in the NFL (31.5).
The bevy of early season injuries has caused me to turn to Penix
a 2nd time this season, but I’m happy to oblige the second-year
southpaw. Largely a bystander last week as Atlanta steamrolled
the Vikings with their running game, I trust Penix against a Panther
defense that hasn’t been bad, but just doesn’t have
the defense to hold up against the Falcon skill position players.
Until a goofy interception late in OT last week, Wilson truly
lived up to his moniker of Mr. Unlimited. His vintage rainbow
deep balls were on point, and he popped off for a career best
450 yards against a toothless Cowboy defense. Unfortunately, it’s
not Dallas this week again, as instead, a grumpy 0-2 Chiefs team
comes to the Meadowlands with their season on the line. After
getting lit up by Herbert in Week 1, they put the clamps on Philly
last week. Don’t chase the points here.
For 7 of the 8 quarters he’s played this season, Bryce Young
has looked like the version that got him benched this time last
season. Despite playing out of his mind in a furious 4th quarter
comeback against the Cardinals last week, he’s looked mostly
terrible, and just lost two starting linemen to IR. With no threats
outside of Tet McMillian this offense struggles to make plays, and
Young just can’t be trusted.
Stafford has been solid in the Rams 2-0 start. Davante Adams has
given the passing game a 2nd weapon that they lacked last season,
and most weeks I’d feel comfortable, but underwhelmed with
him as my starting QB. But hitting the road to face a stingy Eagle
defense is not the place I want to be. Sure, he lit them up in the
snow in last year’s division playoff, but flying cross country
after just playing a tough game in Tennessee is rough. Let’s
not even mention the -8 yards rushing he’s "totaled"
so far this season.
