Veteran pass rusher wants to start
The Giants have long known that Osi Umenyiora is unhappy about being underpaid. Turns out he's not too crazy about being underutilized, either. Umenyiora, who has more sacks than any other Giant (27.5) over the last three seasons, spent 2011 playing behind Justin Tuck and Jason Pierre-Paul. On Thursday, he hinted that he wouldn't be excited to fill that role again. "I don't like being a backup, I can tell you that," he said. "It worked for us last year, but I was coming of an injury or whatever. But I see myself as a starter in the NFL." (New York Daily News)

FF Today's Take: Umenyiora is doing just fine as a back up. Perhaps the added rest he gets from playing second-fiddle allows him to be more explosive when he does get on the field. Umeyiora was one of only five players last season to average at least one sack per game, tackling opposing quarterbacks nine times in nine games.
