Shelve your Wranglers and put those No. 4 Bears jersey orders on hold. Brett Favre says he's happy being retired. One day after a source told ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright that Favre would listen to the injury-riddled Bears if Chicago came calling, a high-ranking Bears source told ESPN's Ed Werder on Tuesday that the team has no interest in signing the 42-year-old quarterback. Favre denied there have been any talks with teams about ending retirement. "I haven't contacted nor have been contacted by any teams and all reports are inaccurate," Favre said. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: How many years will need to pass before Favre's name stops getting brought up during injury scenarios? That being said, Chicago will be in tough to make the playoffs with Caleb Hanie under center, and Marion Barber is looking like the only start-worthy Bear during week 14.

"Don't want to bring the circus to town"
The Texans didn’t call “retired” quarterback Brett Favre two weeks ago, after starting quarterback Matt Schaub suffered a season-ending foot injury. Now that backup Matt Leinart is feared to be lost for the season with an apparent broken collarbone, will the Texans call Favre? Peter King of Sports Illustrated explained during Football Night In America that Texans G.M. Rick Smith doesn’t envision pursuing Favre. Smith said that the Texans likely won’t be interested. “I don’t want to bring the circus to town,” Smith told King. (Pro Football Talk)

FF Today's Take: We hate to even mention this story, but when a team like the Texans are nearing their first-ever playoff berth, they can get desperate. Favre told King via text message that the future Hall of Famer isn’t interested in returning and also said that he hasn’t thrown a football in a month. It is noteworthy, however, that Houston did work out Jeff Garcia last week.
