2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
At this point in his career you know what you're getting with Big Ben. Despite helming one of the best offenses in the league on a yearly basis, Roethlisberger has never really become a consistent front line fantasy quarterback. Sure, every year he has some supernova game, but you can also count on a few weeks where an injury keeps him out of the lineup, or he throws a bunch of interceptions and questions his self-worth.

More retirement talk, and a change in offensive coordinators has put Ben in the spotlight again. I feel like the window on this version of the Steelers is quickly closing. Another early playoff exit (or worse) could be the catalyst for large scale change. On the surface, I don't see the move to Randy Fichtner as offensive coordinator hurting Ben. There had actually been a power struggle in recent years with former coordinator Todd Haley. Roethlisberger seems to have won, as Fichtner has been on the Steelers' staff for a decade, the last eight years of those as quarterback coach. I think this could be a good thing for Ben and this offense, as a new, more trusted voice in his ear could bring some stability.

From line to skill positions, Big Ben is part of the best overall offense in the NFL. With the potential to have the best trio of receivers he's had in years, a sense of urgency, and a better relationship with his coaches, I think Ben puts together a strong season and finishes close to the top-5 in scoring, making him a fantastic value for those owners who typically grab him in that 2nd or 3rd tier of quarterbacks.

Antonio Brown tweets about possible trade
Steelers WR confronted OC Randy Fichtner during Week 2 game
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 18, 9:25 am

Pittburgh Steelers
Steelers WR Antonio Brown tweeted "Trade me let's find out," on response to a former Steelers public relations staff member who was critical of the wide receiver's importance to the team's offense. It lit up Twitter and raised the specter of his possible unhappiness with the Steelers offense moving forward. The response was directed to Ryan Scarpino, who worked for the Steelers from 2010-17 and tweeted about Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Monday: "AB needs to thank his lucky stars, because he was drafted by a team that had Ben. And Ben got AB paid. You know darn well he wouldn't put up those numbers for other teams." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: It's probably just white noise in the grand scheme of things, but there are some signs pointing to unrest in Pittsburgh, and Brown would be an elite WR wherever he went. Still, it's hard to envision him with any other team in 2018.

Injury Roethlsiberger returns to practice Friday
Expected to play Sunday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 14, 1:30 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returned to practice Friday, and his teammates are confident he will play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Roethlisberger did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, but he threw Friday for the first time this week after taking a direct helmet hit on his right (throwing elbow) from Browns defensive end Genard Avery on the second-to-last play of the 21-21 tie against the Browns. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

FFToday's Take: It would be a shock if Roethlisberger didn't suit up on Sunday. He's got a great matchup at home against a burnable Chiefs secondary and should have an easy path to QB1 value in Week 2.

Injury Big Ben out again Thursday
Misses second straight day of practice with elbow injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 13, 8:20 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) has missed two straight practices. Hopeful for Friday’s practice? “We’ll see how I feel tomorrow,” he said. OC Randy Fichtner said he’d like to think Josh Dobbs is ready to play if needed. (ESPN - Jeremy Fowler)

FFToday's Take: It's not a football season unless Roethlisberger is either dealing with an injury or pondering his future. With that said, he didn't appear to be limited in any way in Week 1. Back home and facing one of the worst secondaries in the league in the Chiefs, Big Ben could be the overall QB1 this week if he plays.

Injury Big Ben cleared of potential concussion
Suffered minor head injury Tuesday
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 16, 2:55 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger is fine and out of concussion protocol. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

FFToday's Take: All is well again in Pittsburgh, as clearing the protocol this quickly suggests he didn't have a brain injury of any kind. Roethlisberger should be allowed to resume his usual activities for the rest of the week, although he could be held out of Thursday's preseason game as a precaution. He's a solid QB2 for fantasy purposes.
