Tolbert to play fullback in Carolina-- Sun Apr 1 10:00 am -- "He’s a fullback to us"
Rivera and Chudzinski, who were in San Diego with Mike Tolbert, knew about his versatility as a runner, blocker, receiver. "If you look at what happened last year with our offense, we didn’t have a pure, true fullback in terms of a guy that has the ability to not just block, but go out into the routes, run the flat route and catch the ball, run the pivot route and catch the ball, pass protect on a consistent basis," Rivera said.

FF Today's Take:It appears Tolbert will not eat into the production of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in the running game. As a fullback, Tolbert's fantasy value will be nill knocking him down to worthy a late-round flier or waiver wire pickup.

Former San Diego Chargers running back Mike Tolbert has signed a four-year contract with the Carolina Panthers, his agent said Monday. Agent Joel Turner told The Associated Press that his client is so excited about joining Carolina that "he left over $1 million on the table from San Diego -- that's how bad he wanted to play there."(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Let the speculation begin as it seems unlikely that DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Tolbert will all be on the roster in 2012. Both Williams and Stewart are under contract so perhaps a trade is in the works. Tolbert's fantasy value isn't necessarily increased with this move as the Panthers have one of the best goaline QBs in the game.
