|Every runner behind Stewart on the depth chart appears to have some limitations, making a committee approach extremely likely should Stewart get bitten by the injury bug this season. The most experienced man to lead the backup duties is Mike Tolbert. Coming off knee and leg injuries, Tolbert needs to regain confidence during training camp and reassert himself as a reliable option in a rushing attack that will need to replace Williamsí leadership role and carries. The Coastal Carolina alum has mostly been used as a goal-line runner since joining the team three years ago and he should slide back into that role again for 2015 if he is able to put his lower-body injuries behind him. Tolbertís best-case scenario would see him given eight to 10 carries a game while serving as the primary option inside the 10-yard line, netting a half dozen scores.

Cameron Artis-Payne in play

FFToday's Take: Cameron Artis-Payne is the Carolina running back to take a chance with if you're searching for help at the position. He's likely to share time and snaps with Fozzy Whittaker and Mike Tolbert but is the best bet among the three to get early-down work against the Falcons.

Panthers being cautious with injured RB
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 22, 11:43 am
|Charlotte Observer reporter Jonathan Jones on Twitter: "No Jonathan Stewart as the practice horn blows" -- which leads us to believe the Panthers are being cautious with their No. 1 RB. (Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: He's not ready yet. Look for Cameron Artis-Payne to lead touches and Fozzy Whittaker and Mike Tolbert to help out in passing downs and at the goal line.
|Jonathan Stewart to see fewer carries?|
HC Ron Rivera will look for opportunities to keep his RB fresh

|Panthers HC Ron Rivera says he's going to try to find chances to spell Jonathan Stewart as Panthers head into stretch run. (Joe Person on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Although fantasy owners don't like the idea of one of the few remaining 20-carry backs seeing his carries reduced down the stretch, it makes sense given the team's standing in the NFC, Stewart's injury history and the fact so many of his carries are physical inside runs. Still, it is unlikely Stewart will lose more than 3-5 touches per game to Mike Tolbert or Cameron Artis-Payne, so any drop-off in fantasy should be minimal.
