McFadden getting healthy-- Mon May 14 12:55 am -- Cutting at full speed after recovery from foot injury
Darren McFadden is on track to make a successful return to the field after missing the final nine games last season with a severely sprained foot. That’s according to running backs coach Kelly Skipper, who offered the most in-depth report on McFadden’s health since the injury occurred.
“The thing about Darren is, he didn’t have any major surgeries, so he’s able to come back here healthy and he’s playing at a high level right now and it’s offseason. You would never know he got hurt. He’s making cuts at full speed, everything.”(Oakland Tribune)
FF Today's Take:Talent has never been the question with McFadden, but durability has. In four NFL seasons he has yet to play in more than 13 games, suiting up for a career-low seven in 2011. He's a fantasy RB1 when he's healthy, but his inability to play a full schedule makes him a better fit at RB2. Taiwan Jones and Mike Goodson will fight for the right to be his high-upside handcuff.
McFadden participates in drills-- Tue Apr 17 8:00 pm -- Head coach encouraged by running back's progress
FF Today's Take:McFadden has been plagued by injuries during his professional career but is a dynamic back and fantasy RB1 when healthy. He'll be a high risk/reward player in fantasy drafts this summer.
OAK acquires RB Goodson from CAR-- Fri Mar 30 8:20 pm -- Former Aggie to back up McFadden
Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson said he has been traded to the Oakland Raiders on Friday. Goodson was placed on injured reserve in November after suffering a hamstring injury.
He had 103 carries in 2010, with 452 yards and three touchdowns. He also served a good option as a receiver, catching 40 passes for 310 yards in 2010. The Raiders will likely use Goodson as a backup to starter Darren McFadden. McFadden's former running mate, Michael Bush, recently signed a long-term deal with the Chicago Bears.(NFL.com)
FF Today's Take:Given McFadden's injury woes and Oakland's tremendous success running the football this past season, Goodson will rank among the most important handcuffs in 2012 if he earns the number two spot on the Raiders' running back depth chart.
