The Washington Redskins’ added one of the last missing pieces to their offense by agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with veteran running back Tim Hightower.
Hightower is coming back from a torn ACL, but Redskins coaches consider him valuable. He’s the most well-rounded of the backs on the roster and a strong leader. Helu and Royster aim to overtake him with a year of playing time under their belts.
(Washington Post)
FF Today's Take:Hightower rejoins a depth chart that features Roy Helu, Evan Royster and sixth-rounder Alfred Morris. While Hightower is valuable, both Helu and Royster offer more in terms of big-play ability. Of course, as is always the case with Mike Shanahan's running backs, each RB that makes the final roster is very likely to start at least one game. Helu is the RB to own here in fantasy, but he should only be considered a flex option for now.
Pats look at RBs Addai, Hightower, Grant-- Fri Apr 20 8:00 pm -- New England looking to bolster backfield with a veteran
The New England Patriots might not be finished adding to their stable of running backs. Free agents Joseph Addai and Tim Hightower visited with the team this week, a league source told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. ESPN also reported former Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant will meet with the Patriots on Friday.(Yahoo Sports)
FF Today's Take:Based on recent production, Hightower would appear to be the most likely of the three backs to turn into a productive fantasy rusher. However, as the Patriots have shown time and time again over the last decade, they often employ a running back by committee system that sees a relative unknown emerge as the top back, much like BenJarvus Green-Ellis did in 2010.
