2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
From top 10 in 2014, to barely top 50 in 2015, last season was a long one for Forsett and his owners. Forsett was always a great bet to be over drafted based on his previous year production, but he was on his way to a respectable year even before going down with a gruesome arm injury in the 10th game. On pace for a 225-1025-3 line on the ground, and 50 catches, Forsett could have been a least in RB2 territory by seasonís end, but there is very little about his 2016 situation that makes him a thrilling addition to a fantasy squad.

Letís face facts. Forsett is an aging vet that was a career change-of-pace back until his 2014 breakout. If you caught lighting in a bottle that year, congrats. If you draft Forsett expecting that to happen again, watch out for lighting striking you. Heís not built for 200-plus touches , let alone 200-plus carries and the Ravens recognize this. Young ďBuckĒ Javorius Allen and 4th round rookie Kenneth Dixon should do a majority of the heavy lifting on the ground, and allow Forsett to be fresher and more effective as the season wears on. Iím going to guess Forsett holds the title of starting running back in name alone, and ends up as nothing more than a FLEX option or bye week fill in this season. Forsettís low ceiling make him an extremely underwhelming fantasy prospect and not a player I want to invest heavily in.

Justin Forsett expected to start
Terrance West in early and often
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 11, 11:25 am

Baltimore Ravens
Justin Forsett says he'll start. However, Terrance West should be in game early and often. Each will get opp early and Ravens will stay w/hot hand (Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: West may be get the start but this RBBC is a situation to avoid for fantasy owners. Javorius Allen should be in the mix as well on third-downs.

Justin Forsett agrees to resign with Ravens
Move to become official on Tuesday
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 5, 11:35 am

Baltimore Ravens
RB Justin Forsett has agreed to re-sign w/Ravens. Move to become official prior to their start of practice Tues (Jason LaCanfora on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Ravens cut the veteran RB on Sunday after being the No.1 running back most of the off-season. This move brings into question just how big of a role Forsett will have in the offense and makes the situation a jumbled mess for fantasy owners. Terrance West, Forsett and Javorius Allen are all likely to see action in Week 1.

Ravens release RB Justin Forsett
West, Allen should get majority of work Week 1
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 3, 3:35 pm

Baltimore Ravens
Surprise cut of day: Ravens released RB Justin Forsett, league source tells ESPN. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Ravens have a trio of replacements including Terrance West, Javorius Allen and rookie Kenneth Dixon. Allen is more of a receiving threat while West and Dixon (when healthy) could fight for early-down work. Dixon is battling a knee injury and could miss the majority of September. Forsett could land with another team in need of RB help including IND, WAS, or NE.

Clarity coming soon to Baltimore backfield?
No back has seemingly separated himself from the pack yet
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 25, 6:05 pm

Baltimore Ravens
Halfway through the preseason, the Baltimore Ravens have yet to make any decisions on how they're handling their crowded running-back group. Will the Ravens go with a running back by committee? Will they rely on a featured back? Or will they simply go with the hot runner from week to week? "The next couple of weeks will give us a better idea," offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said. The end result could be Justin Forsett gets the start, Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon become third-down backs, and Terrance West turns into the power back in the red zone. But the Ravens are still trying to figure out their plan going forward. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Trestman has a long track record of generating exceptional fantasy production from his running backs because of his desire to involve the position in the passing game. With that said, there doesn't seem to be a lot of clarity in Baltimore. Forsett will almost certainly get the first crack, but there is probably just as much likelihood of a committee or hot-hand situation as there is of a player like Dixon becoming the lead back by midseason. As a result, all four are late-round fliers at best in most leagues.

Terrance West making noise in Ravens' camp
Reportedly pushing for starting role
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 4, 10:00 pm

Baltimore Ravens
Former Browns and Titans castoff RB Terrance West isn't just pushing for a roster spot in Baltimore. He's building a strong case to surpass Justin Forsett and Javorius Allen as the Ravens' top running back. Through a week of training camp, the Baltimore Sun lauded the slimmed-down West as the team's "most explosive offensive player." ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley followed suit on Thursday, noting that West has been the offense's "No. 1 playmaker." (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Kenneth Dixon was supposed to be the one to emerge in Baltimore, but a knee sprain has cost him valuable time to put heat on Justin Forsett and Buck Allen. Instead, it has been West, who has reportedly dropped 15 pounds and is looking every bit like the zone runner former Browns OC Kyle Shanahan thought he was when Cleveland used a third-round pick on him in 2014. Keep an eye on this backfield battle in camp; a focused West has as good of chance as anyone to win the job.
