|Buck Allen showing off passing-game chops|
Fourth-round RB well-suited for Marc Trestman's offense
By: Doug Orth | Mon May 18, 4:15 pm
|One of the top reasons the Ravens selected rookie RB Javorius Allen in the fourth round of the NFL draft was his ability to catch passes out of the backfield.
"We've seen Buck catch passes, we've seen Buck pass protect, so we know he can do it," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "He has done it out here and looks very smooth doing it. He's running the ball well. We haven't had any surprises." (Baltimore Sun)|
FFToday's Take: Justin Forsett will turn 30 in mid-October, which obviously bodes well for Allen to become the starter at some point before 2017. Even if he merely operates as a change-of-pace back for the next two seasons, the USC product stands a great chance of being flex-worthy in an offense that lacks a significant and/or proven talent at receiver or tight end and a system that loves throwing the ball to its running backs. Allen should be Forsett's primary handcuff immediately and find his way into 5-8 touches per game.
|Bernard Pierce arrested for DUI|
Roster spot in jeapordy
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Mar 18, 10:40 am
|Ravens running back Bernard Pierce was arrested in Towson early Wednesday morning and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Ravens team spokesman Chad Steele told The Baltimore Sun: "We are aware of the situation and learning more about it. We take these matters seriously." (Baltimore Sun)|
FFToday's Take: Pierce's fantasy value took a hit last season as he was playing behind Justin Forsett and Fitzgerald Toussaint most of the year. Ever since the Ray Rice incident, the Ravens have been strict with off-field conduct. DB Victor Hampton was arrested earlier this off-season on DWI charges and was released. Pierce could suffer the same fate.
|Justin Forsett staying in Baltimore|
RB had interest from ATL, WAS and OAK
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Mar 12, 1:10 pm
|The Ravens have re-signed veteran running back Justin Forsett to three-year contract that averages about $3 million per year, according to NFL sources.
Forsett also drew interest from the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders (Baltimore Sun)|
FFToday's Take: This is a good fit for Forsett and his fantasy value. The Ravens are committed to the run and Forsett had his best season as a pro last season averaging 5.4 yards per carry while scoring eight touchdowns. He's not an ideal fit as a workhorse running back but if he ends up in that role, he could once again produce high-end RB2, low-end RB1 value.
