Russell Wilson in mix to start-- Mon May 14 12:25 am -- Rookie QB shows well in rookie minicamp
Seattle rookie Russell Wilson will be part of the competition to become Seattle's starting quarterback this fall, coach Pete Carroll said Sunday as the team concluded a three-day minicamp for rookies.
"He showed us enough," Carroll said. "He's in the competition."
Wilson was very impressive on Friday when the Seahawks began the minicamp, taking every repetition during the 11-on-11 drills. He was intercepted on several deep passes during Saturday's practice, but after concluding the workouts on Sunday, Carroll raved about his readiness.(Seattle Times)
FF Today's Take:Wilson, a third-round selection, was the highest pick the franchise has used on a quarterback since 1993. Although Wilson has a lot working for him, the odds are quite long that he will beat out both free-agent addition Matt Flynn and incumbent starter Tarvaris Jackson in his rookie season. Although his redraft value is minimal, he does possesses sneaky appeal in dynasty leagues.
QB Matt Flynn headed to Seattle-- Sun Mar 18 4:40 pm -- Three years, $26 million with $10 million guaranteed
The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms on a contract with former Packers quarterback Matt Flynn, the team announced Sunday. The contract is for three years and $26 million with $10 million guaranteed, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Flynn has limited game experience but did explode for 480 yards and six touchdowns against the Lions in Week 17 of last season. It remains to be seen whether Flynn can be the franchise QB Seattle needs but it's worth a shot if you're only other feasible option is Tarvaris Jackson.
Matt Flynn to meet with Seahawks Thurs-- Wed Mar 14 8:50 pm -- Seattle narrowing search for QB
The Seattle Seahawks will be hosting free agent quarterbacks Chad Henne and Matt Flynn on visits this week, along with former Seahawks offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson. The Seahawks are in the market for a QB with only two currently on their roster, including last year's starter Tarvaris Jackson. Jackson played well at times during his first year in Seattle but has just one year remaining on his deal. Flynn turned heads with his performance in Green Bay's season finale when he threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns against Detroit.

FF Today's Take:With Henne signed by the Jaguars, the Seahawks can focus their interest on Flynn. Predominantly known for playing the role of Aaron Rodgers' backup the past few seasons in Green Bay, the rarely used 26-year-old has posted a total of 731 passing yards and nine touchdown passes in just two career starts. Could he be the next emerging slinger to step out of the shadow of a star Packers quarterback?
