2015 Outlook
At 34, Fred Jackson continues to defy logic when it comes to age and performance for NFL running backs. Every year the same narrative is shared by numerous writers that Jackson is too old and is finished, and every year it seems the veteran tailback proves those pundits wrong with a solid performance. Although he managed just 3.7 yards per carry and two paltry rushing touchdowns in 2014, he did post 66 receptions and 501 receiving yards out of the backfield.

Jackson will likely share time with McCoy, with McCoy acting as the bellcow and primary ball carrier. It is also possible that McCoy will eat into Jackson’s reception total, as McCoy is an accomplished receiver out of the backfield and has more elusiveness in the open field. Fantasy owners should view Jackson as a handcuff to McCoy and not a viable flex play in standard formats.
News From The Past 90 Days
Bills release RB Fred Jackson
Nine-year career in Buffalo comes to an end
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Aug 31, 9:00 am

Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills released Fred Jackson on Monday, ending the veteran running back's nine-year career with the team. "Today, we had to make the difficult decision to release Fred Jackson," Bills general manager Doug Whaley said in a statement. "He had an incredible career for this organization for the past 10 years. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The 34-year-old running back missed a couple weeks of camp with hamstring injury but played well in Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers. The Bills still have plenty of running back depth including LeSean McCoy (hamstring) Bryce Brown (hamstring), Anthony Dixon (calf) and rookie Karlos Williams. A few teams are in need of running back help including Dallas and Tennessee.

Injury Rex: Bills "cautiously optimistic" about McCoy
Hamstring injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 27, 4:40 pm

Buffalo Bills
HC Rex Ryan has the media answer whether LeSean McCoy will be ready for the opener. All together now: "Cautiously optimistic!" (Buffalo Bills on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: In typical Rex fashion, he was able to sidestep an injury question with humor. The fact that Ryan didn't come a little closer to guaranteeing his availability for the opener should be cause for concern for his owners, however, and could rightfully result in a drop of his ADP as a result. McCoy has seemingly been hurt since the day he arrived in Buffalo, so drafters would be wise not to view him as a fantasy RB1. Fred Jackson and rookie Karlos Williams appear to be next in line.

Injury McCoy leaves practice with hamstring injury
MRI on Wednesday
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Aug 18, 8:00 pm

Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy limped to the locker room with an apparent left leg injury during Tuesday's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Bills are decimated at the running back position with injuries. McCoy (hamstring) joins Fred Jackson (hamstring), Anthony Dixon (calf), Bryce Brown (hamstring) and rookie Karlos Williams (undisclosed) in the trainers room. None are expected to play on Thursday.

Injury Anthony Dixon out with calf injury
Out multiple weeks
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Aug 5, 12:15 pm

Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills running back Anthony Dixon suffered a calf injury in Monday night's practice which coach Rex Ryan called "substantial." Ryan expects Dixon to be out multiple weeks. (Buffalo News)

FFToday's Take: Dixon may struggle to make the final roster if he's out for an extended period of time. The team has Fred Jackson, Bryce Brown and Karlos Williams behind LeSean McCoy. Dixon's injury opens the door for Brown to see more reps in training camp.
