Giants lock up 1st round RB Wilson-- Fri May 11 7:20 pm -- Rookie likely to back up Bradshaw
The New York Giants have agreed to terms with their first-round pick out of Virginia Tech, running back David Wilson. Wilson was drafted with the final pick in the first round by the Giants, who need somebody to replace Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs was released during the offseason, then signed by the 49ers. Wilson will compete with D.J. Ware, Da'Rel Scott and Andre Brown to back up Ahmad Bradshaw. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take:They may have won the Super Bowl last year but the Giants' rushing attack finished the season dead last with an average of just 89.2 yards per game. Wilson should help improve that total and could wrestle significant carries away from Bradshaw, but the Giants have become a pass first team which limits their rushers' value.
Bradshaw to miss OTA's-- Mon Apr 2 12:45 pm -- Three-month recovery period afer procedure
Ahmad Bradshaw gave more details on the injection he recently had in his foot, saying doctors took bone marrow from his hip and shot it into the affected area to help his stress fracture heal. Bradshaw said he won’t do much during offseason workouts, OTAs and minicamp. The hope is he’ll be ready to practice every day during training camp.(Star-Ledger)
FF Today's Take:At this point there's no indication that Bradshaw won't be ready for training camp. However, after missing 5 games last season due to his ongoing foot issues, The Giants will likely bring in a free agent running back or draft a rookie to pair with Bradshaw in 2012.
Ahmad Bradshaw has foot procedure-- Fri Mar 9 1:45 pm -- Giants RB to spend offseason recovering from fracture
New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw said he would not need any offseason surgery on his fractured foot, but he recently underwent a procedure to aid the healing process, a Giants spokesperson confirmed Thursday. The procedure, which involved an "injection," according to the Newark Star-Ledger, took place last week. The team said the running back did not undergo any type of surgery or have any screws placed in the foot.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Bradshaw hasn't exactly had a clean bill of health during his five-year NFL career. So far, he has had surgeries on both feet and ankles. Buyers should beware with Bradshaw from here on out.
