2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Indianapolis brought in Ahmad Bradshaw last season to add to the competition at the running back position and push Donald Brown. Three games into the 2013 season and Bradshaw was paying dividends for fantasy owners reaching pay dirt twice. On par with his recent past, injuries prevented him from playing in 16 games for the third straight season. He has had foot issues for years but can still be effective with limited carries, which is why the team re-signed him to a one-year pact for the 2014 season. Bradshaw will give the Colts a decent option to spell Trent Richardson and will handle the primary backup duties until Vick Ballard proves he is healthy enough to handle an expended role. Of course that role greatly minimizes his fantasy value this season but as long as he remains second on the depth chart he has value as a handcuff to Richardson investors.

T-Rich making presence felt in Colts' camp
Hoping from bounceback from poor 2013 season
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 14, 5:15 pm

Indianapolis Colts
This one probably deserves an asterisk, because at the start of camp, it seemed as though things were touch and go with Trent Richardson. He didn't practice for the first week of camp, sidelined as a precaution because of a hamstring injury suffered in pre-camp workouts. But Richardson made his presence felt after returning, running with the sort of determination and decisiveness that gives the Colts hope he can rebound from a subpar 2013 season. Richardson says he's healthier now than he was entering his two previous pro seasons, and he looks it. (Indianapolis Star)

FFToday's Take: Richardson has drawn a lot of criticism for, among other things, his inability to come anywhere close to matching Donald Brown's production last season. To his credit, he is a more than capable receiver with plenty of power. With Vick Ballard already done for the year and the injury-prone Ahmad Bradshaw as his only capable backup, Richardson may be set up for a massive workload. For that reason alone, he is a more than viable flex option.

Injury Trent Richardson dealing with hamstring issue
Colts' running back not practicing
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jul 27, 3:10 pm

Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have been using the term “soft-tissue” issue when talking about why running back Trent Richardson has not been practicing in training camp. Richardson has a hamstring issue. Richardson isn’t practicing, but he has been catching passes off the Jugs machine at the conclusion of practices. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: With Vick Ballard (Achilles) out for the season, Ahmad Bradshaw has been running with first team during the early portion of training camp. Richardson's hamstring issue doesn't appear to be serious but it's something to monitor moving forward.

Injury Vick Ballard likely out for the season
Torn Achilles, MRI pending
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jul 25, 9:00 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Two days into training camp and the Colts already are dealing with their first major injury. Running back Vick Ballard, only now returning from season-ending knee surgery last September, suffered what team owner Jim Irsay said is a likely torn left Achilles tendon during a non-contact drill Friday. (Indianapolis Star)

FFToday's Take: Ballard will have an MRI to confirm the diagnosis but it sounds like he will be lost for the season. He was active for one game in 2013 before suffering an ACL injury. Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw remain the top two options at running back for the Colts. Chris Rainey and Dan Herron are also on the roster.
