2011 Outlook
Depth Chart
Smith burst onto the scene in 2009, finishing the year with 107 receptions (the most in team history) for 1,220 yards and seven touchdowns. With the Giants moving to more of a pass-based offense, more of the same was expected last season. However, Smith caught the injury bug, suffering a torn pectoral muscle that caused him to miss four games, only to return and suffer a season-ending knee injury in Week 14. Even when he was in the lineup, his production was down, with his point-per-game average slipping from 10.3 to 7.9. With Mario Manningham developing into a big play receiver and Smith’s recovery from microfracture surgery uncertain—and a stint on the PUP to open the season not out of the question—he ranks as a backup wide receiver at best in 2011. And don’t forget that he’s a better option in PPR leagues than in standard scoring formats.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Young to make first start with Eagles     -- Sat Nov 19 8:00 pm --

Vick out with broken ribs
Vick won't play when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the New York Giants on Sunday because of two broken ribs. Vince Young will make his first start for Philadelphia in Vick's place. He's thrown one pass this season -- an interception. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin also won't play because of shoulder and hamstring injuries. (AP)

FF Today's Take: Riley Cooper will start in Maclin's place but Jason Avant and Steve Smith will see plenty of snaps as well. Expect to see a lot of LeSean McCoy against the Giants.
Injury Maclin, Vick listed as questionable     -- Fri Nov 18 8:15 pm --

Both are unlikely to play this weekend
Three practices down for the Eagles this week, all three without Michael Vick. For the third straight day, Vick did not participate in Eagles practice. This time, he wasn’t even there as a spectator. Neither was Jeremy Maclin. The wide receiver has been sidelined by shoulder and hamstring injuries all week. Vick continues to deal with a pair of broken ribs. (Philly Sports Daily)

FF Today's Take: While Vince Young is likely to get the start at QB, Maclin will be probably be replaced by some combination of Jason Avant and Steve Smith.
DeSean Jackson expected to be inactive     -- Sun Nov 13 8:30 am --

Missed a team meeting yesterday
When the Eagles’ inactives are announced about 90 minutes before gametime today, there will be one very large surprise. Wideout DeSean Jackson missed a meeting yesterday and was told he would not be in uniform for today’s encounter with the Arizona Cardinals at Lincoln Financial Field, a source close to the situation told the Daily News. A team source confirmed the news. (Philiadelphia Daily News)

FF Today's Take: If Jackson is inactive today, Jason Avant would get the start with Steve Smith filling in as the slot receiver. Avant would be a decent WR3 play against the Cardinals.
