In 2009, Rice flashed the potential the Vikings felt he had when they used a second-round pick in 2007 to draft him. Unfortunately, Rice suffered a hip injury that caused him to miss the majority of 2010, and he never really seemed to get on track once he returned to the lineup. In six games, he caught just 17 passes for 280 yards and a pair of touchdowns. To be fair, Brett Favre only saw meaningful action for Rice’s first two games, so part of his lack of productivity was due to the team’s quarterback issues. It’s all about risk, however, and the bottom line is that he has been productive for only one season out of four. Consider him a WR3 with upside until he solidifies his role in Seattle.
Comment:Rice's fantasy value takes a steep hit with his move to Seattle who currently fancies Tarvaris Jackson as their starting QB.
Golden Tate to start for Seattle-- Tue Dec 6 8:55 pm -- Seahawks WR could play major role on Monday night
Golden Tate has had to wait his turn, but the second-year wide receiver made the most of his opportunities in his first NFL start and will get more in Monday night's game against the Rams.(Seahawks.com)
FF Today's Take:It has been a long time for the uber-hyped Tate but now he has a chance to make a real impact. With Sidney Rice out for the season, Tate becomes an intriguing #1 option in the Seahawks passing game. He should post better numbers than Ben Obomanu and Mike Williams going forward - he is woth a waiver wire look at very least!
When the Seahawks signed Sidney Rice in the offseason to join Mike Williams as a linchpin in the receiving corps, the belief was that Seattle had found the missing ingredient in its passing game. But both have been dogged by injuries, the latest being a concussion to Rice - his second in less than a month - that will keep him out of Thursday night's game against Philadelphia. Rice came up woozy after making a diving attempt for a pass across the middle in Sunday's 23-17 loss to Washington, a game in which both Rice and Williams were held without a reception.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Rice has largely been a disappointment this season. Undrafted 23-year-old rookie Doug Baldwin has been the Seahawks most consistent receiver, and becomes a decent WR3 this week with Rice out.
Tarvaris Jackson practices in full-- Tue Nov 29 7:25 pm -- Pectoral injury won't keep Seahawks QB out Thursday
FF Today's Take:Jackson will likely be a fixture on the Hawks' injury report for the rest of the season. He is on track to play in an OK matchup against Philadelphia but he will likely be without Sidney Rice. Jackson is not a good Fantasy option this week.
Sidney Rice doubtful for Thursday night-- Tue Nov 29 6:40 pm -- Seahawks WR's concussion to keep him on sideline
Pete Carroll says WR Sidney Rice is unlikely to play because of a concussion, saying the short week "basically rules him out."(John Boyle on Twitter)
FF Today's Take:Rice still hasn't practiced this week and by what Pete Carroll said, there is very little chance of him playing on Thursday. Mike Williams, Ben Obomanu and Doug Baldwin will start and will likely have trouble with the extra attention that is forced upon them without Rice in the lineup.
Sidney Rice injured in Week 11-- Sun Nov 27 10:00 pm -- Possible concussion
FF Today's Take:Rice hit his head against the ground, was woozy as he got up and was quickly ruled out for the day - all of which scream concussion. Rice also suffered a mild concussion in Week 10, so his status is in much doubt for Week 13. With Mike Williams also limited with a shoulder injury vs. the Redskins, Doug Baldwin and Ben Obomanu may be low-end WR3 options in Week 13.
