2011 Outlook
Depth Chart
There’s a good chance you were leading your league in 2010 as the fantasy playoffs approached if you had Bowe on your roster. There’s also a good chance you got bounced in the first or second round if you had Bowe on your roster. Bowe had a monstrous 2010 campaign, finishing the season with 72 receptions for 1,162 yards and 15 touchdowns—the most in the league and the most by a wide receiver since Randy Moss’s 23 in 2007. However, he was held in check in Weeks 14 and 15 (three receptions for 56 yards), costing his fantasy owners at the wrong time. He finished as the second-ranked fantasy wide receiver behind Brandon Lloyd, and the question is whether the talented Bowe has put his litany of issues behind him and is ready to be a consistent producer for the Chiefs. Since he stayed clear of trouble last year, he deserves the benefit of the doubt, but expecting a repeat of his 2010 season isn’t realistic. He’s not a major yards producer, so he relies on touchdowns to pad his fantasy point total, and he is unlikely to approach his 2010 touchdown total this season. It’s also worth noting that Bowe really slowed down starting in Week 14, catching just 14 passes for 277 yards and one touchdown over the next six games, including the Chiefs’ wild-card loss to the Ravens. That stretch included three games where Bowe failed to notch a single fantasy point. He’s a WR2 heading into 2011.

Kyle Orton to start, if healthy     -- Wed Dec 14 12:05 pm --

Ricky Stanzi will start if Orton can't go
Kyle Orton will start at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday unless an injured finger on his throwing hand prevents him from playing. Journeyman quarterback Tyler Palko had led the Chiefs to only two touchdowns in four games since taking over for the injured Matt Cassel. (AP)

FF Today's Take: Crennel also stated that Ricky Stanzi would start if Orton isn't fully recovered from his injured finger on his throwing hand. Orton starting should make Dwayne Bowe owners more comfortable putting him in the starting lineup against the Packers this Sunday.
Injury Chiefs snag Orton leaving Bears McCown     -- Wed Nov 23 6:55 pm --

Injury-riddled teams pick up veteran QBs
The Kansas City Chiefs claimed Kyle Orton off waivers from the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, preventing the Bears from reuniting with their former quarterback in their hour of need. Chicago, which is without Jay Cutler indefinitely to a broken thumb, appeared to be a likely landing spot for Orton, whom the Broncos suddenly sent packing Tuesday amid reports that Orton wanted to head back to the Bears, where he began his career. Instead, the 7-3 Bears will continue their playoff push with Caleb Hanie at QB and Josh McCown backing him up. (SI)

FF Today's Take: McCown, who has been used primarily as a stop-gap quarterback throughout his career, was definitely the Bears' second choice after Orton. Earl Bennett had been establishing himself as Chicago's reliable receiver in recent weeks, but Hanie immediately clouds Bennett's fantasy certainty for the rest of the 2011 season. However Orton, who has a tendency to throw a lot, could provide a minor boost to the value of Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston.
Injury Cassel not yet ruled out for the season     -- Wed Nov 16 6:50 pm --

Chiefs will go with Tyler Palko at QB for the time being
Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel has had surgery on his injured throwing hand and coach Todd Haley still hopes that he will be back this season. Cassel hurt his right hand in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Denver. The former Pro Bowl quarterback had surgery Monday evening to repair what Haley called a "significant" injury. Haley said Wednesday he doesn't know when Cassel will be able to return. (SI)

FF Today's Take: Even though relative unknown Tyler Palko is taking over as Kansas City's quarterback, Dwayne Bowe owners shouldn't be shopping the Chiefs' top receiver just yet. Cassel was as inconsistent as ever this season, and Palko came in and connected on five of the six passes he threw in the fourth quarter last week.
