2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
There arenít many receivers in fantasy history that can essentially miss five games and still finish in the top-15. That should tell you everything you need to know about Calvin Johnson. Despite the injuries, he still finished with a standard scoring 12.0 points per game, which was good for No.10 in the NFL. Yes, heís lost a step, and has missed a few starts over the last two seasons, but heíll be targeted relentlessly in the red zone, has a threatening wing mate in Golden Tate, and still possess one of the highest wide receiver ceilings in the NFL. Johnson has three top-5 finishes (including two No.1 overall) in his last four seasons, and if he plays 16 games, heís a virtual lock to finish in the top-5 again. Sure heís probably on the downswing in his career, (and not an ideal dynasty pick) which is why he could be a serious value pick in the second round. Heís capable of winning your week by himself, and still has 1500 yard, 10-plus touchdown upside, making him an easy WR1.

Calvin Johnson tells Lions he plans to retire
Club holding out hope he returns
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jan 31, 5:19 pm

Detroit Lions
Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson told his family and a close circle of friends before last season that 2015 would be his final year in the NFL, and he delivered the same message to coach Jim Caldwell the day after the regular season ended, sources told ESPN. The Lions have not given up hope that Johnson could change his mind, but one person who knows Johnson well said, "He's pretty content with his decision." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: We heard reports earlier this month that Johnson may hang up his cleats and it appears it may actually happen. Johnson has had back to back down seasons for his standards, battling various ankle and leg injuries. Though he was inconsistent, Johnson finished 10th among fantasy receivers in 2015.

Megatron considering retirement?
Wide receiver considering all options
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Jan 6, 4:03 pm

Detroit Lions
ALLEN PARK -- Could it really happen to the Detroit Lions again? Could their biggest star just walk away? It appears possible. Star receiver Calvin Johnson issued the following statement on the heels of multiple reports that he was mulling retirement at the age of 30 -- drawing shades of Barry Sanders, who hung 'em up at age 31. "Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future," Johnson said. (mlive.com)

FFToday's Take: Calvin Johnson figures to be one of the central storylines of the offseason as both he and the Lions are weighing their options heading into next year. Johnson comes with an $11 million cap hit next season the team must entertain the notion of either trading their superstar or cutting him altogether. Johnson still has four years remaining on his deal and injuries have become a real threat to his effectiveness. Expect this story to develop after the playoffs once the off-season officially begins.

Injury Megatron listed as questionable
For the fourth time in five weeks
By: John Canario | Fri Dec 11, 8:15 pm

Detroit Lions
Calvin Johnson has been listed on the Detroit Lions' injury report every week since hurting his ankle in London in Week 8. And for the fourth time in five games, the star receiver is officially listed as questionable - this time against St. Louis on Sunday. Like the previous four games, every indication is Johnson will play for Detroit as he closes in on another 1,000-yard season. Johnson practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and Thursday, but did not practice Friday. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Be sure to re-check Johnson's status leading up to kickoff, but all indications are that Megatron will play.

Injury John Brown expected to play
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 15, 7:00 am

Arizona Cardinals
AZCardinals WR John Brown (hamstring), Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) expected to play. Same with Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Brown has been dealing with a hamstring injury for a few weeks now but should be good to go. While he has a tough matchup against the Seahawks secondary he may be the best option in the Cardinals receiving corps. The Seahawks are known for shutting down outside receivers while Brown does most of his work from the slot.

Injury Megatron questionable but intends to play
WR dealing with sprained ankle
By: John Canario | Fri Nov 13, 4:00 pm

Detroit Lions
Calvin Johnson said this week that he plans to play in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers (1 p.m., Fox), but after two days of limited work, the Detroit Lions' leading receiver did not participate in practice today. Johnson, who has 48 catches for 659 yards in eight games, sprained his ankle in the Lions' Week 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He said he spent last week's bye getting treatment on his ankle and that this year's injury is nothing like the high ankle sprain that kept him out of three games last year. (Detroit Free Press)

FFToday's Take: Even with the injury, Johnson's a mid-range WR1 this week facing off against a Packers' secondary that has struggled recently.
