2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
To say that the 2016 season for Marshall was a disappointment would be a vast understatement, as the former first-round fantasy stud posted career lows (not counting rookie season or injury shortened 2014) in catches, yards, touchdowns, and fantasy points per game. He managed to convert less than half of the 129 targets thrown his way by a collection of subpar Jets quarterbacks in route to four consecutive sub-50 yard, zero touchdown games to close out his career in the green and white. Changing to the Giants and Eli Manning will certainly be an improvement over the garbage he dealt with as a Jet, and one could argue that Manning, even in his accelerated age, is the best QB Marshall has ever played with in his ten-year NFL career. But Marshall has always been a volume receiver with over 100 targets in all but his rookie season, and the chance of getting 100-plus targets as the second or third option with the Giants will be a strong order. To be fantasy viable Marshall will need to be a regular red zone threat for Manning and score at least eight receiving touchdowns in 2016 to overcome the loss of yardage and catches.

Injury Brandon Marshall done for the year
Will have ankle surgery tomorrow
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 9, 8:30 pm

New York Giants
Tomorrow I’ll have surgery ending year 12. I’m filled with mixed emotions. I wasn’t able to produce for my team the way I wanted to but this was my greatest year to date. This game has shown me who I really am good and bad. This game has given me the opportunity to grow as a man, father, husband, teammate, leader.. . I’m so thankful for this game. (Brandon Marshall on Instagram)

FFToday's Take: Brandon Marshall injured his ankle on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season. The Giants will have a new wide receiver corps in Week 6 after Odell Beckham Jr. broke his ankle in the same game. Roger Lewis, Sterling Shepard (ankle) and Tavarres King will try and pick up the pieces on the outside.

Injury Giants add to receiving corps
Travis Rudolph, Tavarres King signed
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 9, 8:00 am

New York Giants
No one can replace Odell Beckham Jr. as far as what he brings to the field for the Giants, but there is his roster spot to fill. Monday morning, the Giants signed Travis Rudolph off their practice squad, with more moves to come as they seek to rebuild their battered wide receiver corps. Tavarres King has also been signed (New York Post)

FFToday's Take: It was a brutal day for the Giants receiving corps losing Odell Beckham Jr. (broken ankle), Dwayne Harris (fractured foot), Brandon Marshall (sprained ankle) and Sterling Shepard (ankle). Beckham and Harris are out for the year. For now it appears Roger Lewis, King and Rudolph are the top three wide receiver options for Eli Manning. Expect TE Evan Engram to be more involved moving forward. Next up on the schedule for the Giants: at Denver, home for Seattle.

Brandon Marshall admits he's "not playing well"
Veteran WR has caught just 16 of 30 targets this season
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 3, 10:30 am

New York Giants
We're now four games in, and Brandon Marshall doesn’t look anywhere near the Pro Bowl receiver the Giants were expecting when they signed him to a two-year deal in the offseason. He had a pair of drops in Sunday’s 25-23 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and caught another ball with his legs after a bobble. “Just not playing well right now,” he said after finishing with six catches on 10 targets for 46 yards in the Giants’ fourth straight loss. “I haven’t played a solid game since I’ve been here.” (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: It's actually refreshing to hear some accountability coming out of somebody associated the Giants, and Marshall is at least self-aware and working to improve the situation. He's worth a speculative add in leagues where he's been dropped, if only for his physicality and the promise of continued targets.

Injury Odell Beckham inactive Sunday night
Good to go for Week 2?
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 10, 6:20 pm

New York Giants
Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr (high-ankle sprain) is officially inactive. He should be good to go for Week 2, though. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It appeared Beckham was trending the wrong direction a few days ago but it's encouraging to hear Rapoport suggesting the Giants No.1 wide receiver will be available in Week 2. Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shephard and TE Evan Engram should be Eli Manning's top three targets against the Cowboys.

Injury Odell Beckham Jr. will be a game-time decision
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 10, 7:00 am

New York Giants
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be a game-time decision for the team's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. While the Giants are holding out hope for Beckham, there is serious doubt about whether he will play, sources told Schefter. Meetings are planned for Sunday to better assess Beckham's status. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Beckham owners should be making other plans for their starting lineup. If Beckham sits, Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shephard and TE Evan Engram should be Eli Manning's top three options in the passing game.

Injury Odell Beckham iffy for Week 1
Beckham: "I wouldn’t count it out"
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 7, 7:00 am

New York Giants
Will he play? “I wouldn’t count it out,’’ Beckham said Wednesday. “My heart — it’s just not going to make this easy. I can say that it’s a day-to-day thing — really trying to get better. It’s been two weeks. I’m itching. I’m itching, but just patience and trusting." (New York Post)

FFToday's Take: Beckham is two weeks removed from a high ankle sprain so naturally his status for Week 1 is up in the air. He worked on the side yesterday in practice. Head coach Bob McAdoo said Beckham could play if he doesn't practice this week. It appears Beckham is on the wrong side of questionable heading into Thursday's practice. Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard will take on a bigger role if Beckham sits.

Injury Brandon Marshall vows to be ready for Week 1
Giants WR says he "feels good" despite shoulder injury
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 5, 12:25 pm

New York Giants
Despite missing the last two preseason games with an injured shoulder, Giants WR Brandon Marshall promised to "be out there" for the opener in Dallas on Sunday night. (SNY)

FFToday's Take: Marshall missed about a week of practice after the hit he took during New York's Aug. 21 game in Cleveland, and hadn't spoken to the media about it until Monday afternoon. He has looked fine during the portions of practice that are open to the media, but it's unclear if he was limited at all during the Monday's light practice. And if Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't play, the veteran could see a huge number of targets.

Injury Brandon Marshall injures shoulder
Veteran WR
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 22, 9:05 am

New York Giants
Head coach Ben McAdoo said he had no results available after the game, but Brandon Marshall told reporters he was "sore" while briefly walking through the locker room after the game. He later posted a tweet implying he was feeling strong with a muscles emoji. (NJ.com)

FFToday's Take: WRs Tavarres King and Odell Beckham Jr. were also injured in the game. King and Marshall's injuries became known after Beckham was hit low by Browns defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun, leading to some tense moments for the Giants. Beckham later returned to the sideline in street clothes and appears to be walking without a limp. He has a wrap on his left ankle, but it is not bulky.

Brandon Marshall clicking with Eli Manning
New Giants WR reminds QB of Plaxico Burress
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 8, 1:15 pm

New York Giants
On Monday, new Giants wide receiver Brandon Marshall was catching passes all over the field with defenders draped on his back, according to ESPN reproter Jordan Raanan. QB Eli Manning even agreed that comparisons to his rapport with Plaxico Burress are fair. "We're doing some good stuff, Brandon and I, getting on the same page," Manning said. "Every day there's something new that comes up though. A route here, a concept, just getting on the same timing. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: This is good news for Giants fans and bodes well for Marshall's 2017 fantasy outlook. Odell Beckham, Jr. may have the bigger upside, but don't forget about the veteran Marshall on draft day.
