2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Obscure duo references notwithstanding, Brandon Marshall and Jay Cutler are as locked-at-the-hip as they come in professional sports. Signing his own mega contract extension this offseason, Marshall seems to have contained his demons and focused on becoming a professional football player. Combining rare physical gifts with boundless emotion, Marshall has entered the prime of his career improving his technical and mental game. While he underperformed in overall yardage and catch totals since 2012, Marshall still had over 100 catches for the fifth time in his career and had a personal-best 12 touchdown grabs. For as long as they are together, Cutler will have his radar locked on to Marshall, which makes him one of the most reliable pass catchers in the league. The emergence of fellow wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey and the continued threat of Matt Forte mean defenses can't scheme Marshall out of the game. Expect another season of 90+ catches, 1,200 yards and double digit touchdowns, landing Marshall in the upper tier of WR1s.

Comment: Marshall has averaged 109 catches, 1401 yards and 11.5 touchdowns over the last two seasons. He's a WR1 in all formats.

Injury Brandon Marshall: "I feel more explosive"
Practiced in full this week
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 3, 1:55 pm

Chicgao Bears
Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall believes his sprained right ankle has healed enough for him to be his typical threatening self against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.. Marshall fully participated in all three practices this week, the first time he has done so since prior to the season-opener in which he was injured. (Chicago Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Marshall aggravated his ankle injury in Week 3 then posted two catches for 19 yards in Week 4. Marshall should be a WR1 this week against the Panthers.

Injury Brandon Marshall practices in full
LB Lance Briggs sits with sore knee
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Oct 1, 1:52 pm

Chicgao Bears
Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall, defensive linemen Jared Allen and Jeremiah Ratliff, offensive linemen Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson and cornerback Sherrick McManis returned to practice Wednesday. Marshall practiced in full; the others players were limited. Linebacker Lance Briggs sat out to rest a sore knee. (Chicago Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Brandon Marshall has salvaged his fantasy worth by being used primarily as a red zone threat while nursing a sore ankle. A full week of practice without any setbacks should see Jay Cutler's favorite target become much more involved in the passing game this weekend against Carolina.

Injury Brandon Marshall a gametime decision
Questionable with ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 26, 1:45 pm

Chicgao Bears
The Bears will have another game-time decision to make about wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall was sidelined at practice on Friday because of the ankle injury that has troubled him for a few weeks now. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: Marshall is listed as questionable and didn't practice all week. The star receiver was held to one catch and six yards against the Jets in Week 3 and missed a portion of the second half after aggravating the injury. Check the inactive list on Sunday before setting Marshall in your lineup.

Injury Marshall, Jeffery 75% not to play
Both Bears' wide receivers are gametime decisions
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 14, 9:38 am

Chicgao Bears
There are major questions about whether Chicago Bears starting wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery will play Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers. Both players were listed as questionable to play and one source said he was "75 percent" sure neither would play. In addition, receiver Josh Morgan is listed as doubtful on the injury report with a groin injury. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Both have been labeled as gametime decisions for Sunday night's contest against San Francisco. Marshall didn't practice all week while Jeffery worked on a limited basis Friday. If both sit, its likely Santonio Holmes would fill one starting role and perhaps Josh Bellamy the other. Holmes would be a worthwhile WR3 if you're able to adjust your roster at gametime.

Injury Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery iffy for Sunday
Marshall sits Friday, Jeffery limited
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 12, 3:10 pm

Chicgao Bears
Receivers Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) are listed as questionable for Sunday. The Bears held out Marshall from Friday's practice, but he came out and participated during the walk-through portion. Jeffery practiced in a limited capacity and took part in some of the full team drills. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like both Bears' receivers will be true gametime decisions. Not want fantasy owners want to hear considering the Bears and 49ers don't play until Sunday night. If either sit, Santonio Holmes would be in line for more targets.

Injury Bears WRs Marshall, Jeffery miss practice
O-line practices without Garza and Slauson
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Sep 10, 3:49 pm

Chicgao Bears
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears first-team center Roberto Garza (high-ankle sprain), left guard Matt Slauson (high-ankle sprain) and wide receivers Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) were held out of Wednesday’s practice in advance of Week 2’s critical road game against the San Francisco 49ers. (ESPNChicago.com)

FFToday's Take: Brandon Marshall (ankle) has been receiving treatment and is expected to be ready to go for Week 2 but the same cannot be said for Alshon Jeffery and his hamstring. If the pair of wideouts is unable to practice by tomorrow, fantasy owners will need to start making backup plans. Santonio Holmes would benefit the most if either of Chicago's receivers sit out against the 49ers.

Injury Marquess Wilson fractures collarbone
Bears' young third receiver likely sidelined 6-8 weeks
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 4, 4:25 pm

Chicgao Bears
WR Marquess Wilson suffered a fractured clavicle, Bears spokesman says. No timetable for his return. (Rich Campbell on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Wilson had been generating some serious buzz throughout the offseason and is still expected to be the main backup to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, although this injury figures to sideline him into the regular season. At any rate, Wilson still warrants a late-round pick in redraft leagues as a huge-upside player in a very strong passing offense.

Marshall believes Cutler set for big season
MVP on horizon?
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Jul 30, 6:54 pm

Chicgao Bears
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) — Just five days into training camp Wednesday, Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall elevated quarterback Jay Cutler to an elite status usually reserved for Peyton Manning, Drew Brees or Tom Brady. Marshall first insisted during an interview with NFL Network that Cutler can be the MVP this season, and a few minutes later defended his belief, as well as the Bears quarterback. Marshall said Cutler is different not only from when the two broke in together in Denver in 2006, but also from last season when they played in coach Marc Trestman's offense for the first time. (usatoday.com)

FFToday's Take: Jay Cutler's fantasy prospects are high entering the 2014 season. He has never commanded an offense as stocked with talent in the huddle or sideline than the one he will lead this season. Brandon Marshall may just being talking up his good friend and quarterback, but Cutler's arrow is pointed up for owners willing to wait on the position.
