|Last year we told you that it was time to give up hope that Daniels would regain the elite form he displayed over the first half of the 2009 season before suffering a torn ACL. While it seems pretty certain that Daniels, at 30 years of age, won't regain that form, he played surprisingly well in 2012, hauling in 62 receptions for 716 yards and six touchdowns, a career high. With the Texans once again having issues at wide receiver opposite Andre Johnson, Daniels was targeted a career-high 104 times. While the team is high on first-round pick DeAndre Hopkins, the truth is that Houston still does not have a proven threat to play alongside Johnson, and that makes Daniels a lower-tier TE1 in 2013.
Comment: Daniels has led the team in red zone targets each of the last two seasons.

Texans unlikely to get Daniels or Graham back this week
|Rookie TE Ryan Griffin may get his second start Sunday when the Texans host Denver. Garrett Graham didn’t practice Wednesday because of a hamstring injury that sidelined him for Sunday’s loss at Indianapolis and might be a game-time decision again.
“Garrett’s about the same as he was last week,” interim coach Wade Phillips said.
Pro Bowl TE Owen Daniels (fractured fibula) has been eligible to come off short-term injured reserve but hasn’t been cleared by team doctors to return to practice. (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: Assuming Daniels and Graham cannot go, Griffin has some fantasy appeal given that Houston figures to be in pass-happy mode for most of Sunday's game against the Broncos. Matt Schaub tends to lean on his tight ends - especially in the red zone - and Griffin is coming off a six-catch, 62-yard game last week. Owners scrambling for a replacement for Jordan Cameron or Rob Gronkowski could do a lot worse than the Texans' rookie.

Won't return in Week 15
|Owen Daniels’ return has been delayed at least another week.
Daniels won’t play Sunday at Indianapolis, Texans interim coach Wade Phillips said Thursday.
The Texans are also dealing with minor injuries to tight ends Garrett Graham and Jake Byrne. Rookie Ryan Griffin is the Texans’ only fully healthy tight end. (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: There had been some speculation that Daniels would be able to return this week but that won't happen. His value in redraft leagues is flimsy at best.
