After posting a respectable 1,164 total yards and 13 touchdowns in 2009, Addai’s 2010 season was derailed due to a neck injury that caused him to miss eight games and post career lows in all the major offensive categories. While his history injury and modest production in a solid Colts offense would generally decrease the chances of him returning, Indianapolis chose to re-sign him as a free agent for two reasons: he is solid in several areas including pass protection and they don’t have another proven performer at the running back position. Donald Brown has been a bust, Mike Hart is too small and not very dynamic, Jarvarris James has a limited skill set and they aren’t about to hand a significant role to rookie 4th round pick Delone Carter and watch him blow a blitz protection. And when your passing game is as proficient as the Colts is, it’s not like you need a top tier running back to make the offense go. Before you turn Addai away, consider he has averaged 81 total yards and 0.71 touchdowns per game over his five-year career. Sounds like a solid RB3.
Peyton getting throwing arm back-- Wed Dec 21 6:00 pm -- Colts QB starting to put velocity behind passes
Colts running back Joseph Addai says the velocity on Peyton Manning's short throws last week was game-ready. Addai was one of three players catching passes from Manning after last Wednesday's team workout. Receiver Anthony Gonzalez, center Jeff Saturday and a receiver from the practice squad also took part. On Tuesday, team vice chairman Bill Polian told reporters that Manning was throwing "better" and responded "that's correct" when asked whether Manning had decent velocity on throws 20 to 25 yards down the field.

FF Today's Take:This is an encouraging sign for Manning owners in keeper leagues and Colts fans as well, but expect the Manning/Luck dilemma to be one of the most discussed topics in football this offseason leading up to the NFL draft in April.
Brown emerging as Colts top RB-- Fri Dec 2 5:30 pm -- Averaging 4.7 YPC this season
Donald Brown's 356 rushing yards lead the Indianapolis Colts, but they are not an imposing total. Thirty-nine NFL running backs have rushed for more. What stands out is Brown's average, 4.7 yards a carry. Give him just 15 carries a game for the Colts' 11 games and his rushing total would be 776 yards, which projects to a 1,128-yard season. The point is he's running like the player the Colts expected him to be when they took him in the first round of the 2009 draft. He's making people miss and breaking tackles. He's bouncing outside and using his speed. He's protecting the passer.(Indianapolis Star)
FF Today's Take:Last week Brown had 14 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown while Joseph Addai mustered just 23 yards on seven carries. Brown's emergence as the top back in the Colts backfield could be vital for your fantasy team down the stretch with the Colts drawing a couple of favorable rushing match-ups in the New England Patriots this week, and the Houston Texans during week 16.
