2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Reggie Bush was everything the Lions hoped he would be when they signed him in the previous offseason. He provided a big-play threat at the running back position—displaying dazzling tackle-breaking ability and sure hands—on his way to 1,000-plus yards rushing and more than 500 yards receiving. Bush stayed relatively healthy, playing in 14 games, but missed parts of others with nagging lower-body injuries. In an effort to keep Bush fresh, the Lions utilized Joique Bell in a similar role. Fantasy owners and Lions coaches soon realized that the fundamentally sound Bell could be trusted as a runner and receiver. With Bell signed to an extension, and a familiar system in the works, expect Bush's carry numbers to drop but his receptions to rise as he slides into a Darren Sproles type of role in the offense. Bush should shine in PPR leagues, but barring a rash of injuries to the stable of Lions RBs, expect him to have a hard time approaching his top-10 finish of 2013, becoming more of an RB2/3 option.

Comment: Bush had the best fantasy season of his career in 2013. It's not likely to be duplicated but he's still on the RB2/3 radar.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Reggie Bush still not practicing
Tweaked ankle in week 13
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Dec 10, 3:07 pm

Detroit Lions
ALLEN PARK -- Reggie Bush played a complete game for the first time in more than two months. Three days later, it looks like he's on the mend again. The tailback missed practice Wednesday as the Detroit Lions (9-4) began preparations for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings (6-7). Bush had eight carries for 26 yards Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, plus four catches for eight yards. He said he was happy to finally finish a game, but also said he tweaked his ankle, which probably is what kept him from practicing. (mLive.com)

FFToday's Take: Joique Bell has touched the rock over twenty times in each of Detroit's past three games. He should continue to lead the way for the Lions' rushing game as Reggie Bush nurses a sore ankle. Bush's fragile ways make him very risky to trust during the final weeks of the fantasy season.

Injury Reggie Bush expected to play in Week 14
RB's ankle good enough for limited practice on Monday
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 2, 10:33 am

Detroit Lions
As is his custom, Lions coach Jim Caldwell didn't shed much light Monday on the team's four injured starters — offensive guard Larry Warford (knee), defensive tackle Nick Fairley (knee), running back Reggie Bush (ankle) and left tackle Riley Reiff (knee). Bush has been practicing and is expected to play this week. (Detroit News)

FFToday's Take: That's what they said last week, only to have Bush be a surprise inactive on Turkey Day. PPR maven Joique Bell is really the only Lions RB we'd trust in standard 12-team leagues.

FFToday's Take: Bush's ankle injury has bothered him for the better part of a month. With Bush out, Joique Bell will become a viable RB2/FLEX option but he's only scored double-digit fantasy points in four games this year. Theo Riddick will also be involved in a pass-catching role out of the backfield.

Injury Joique Bell and Calvin Johnson miss practice
Detroit offense faced with more injuries
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Nov 19, 4:33 pm

Detroit Lions
ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions are struggling to get all their running backs healthy at the same time. After his season-best rushing performance against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, Joique Bell didn't practice on Wednesday because of an ankle injury. The team also continues to take a cautious approach with All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle). (mLive.com)

FFToday's Take: Detroit's backfield has become a week-to-week carousel for fantasy owners this season. With Joique Bell (ankle) missing practice and Reggie Bush (ankle) limited, it is unclear who will receive the bulk of the work come Sunday. Meanwhile, Calvin Johnson owners continue to sulk as he now works his way through an ankle injury. In short, several of Detroit's fantasy weapons are banged up and you will need to check back later in the week to see who is able to suit up for Week 12.

Injury Bush Questionable, missed practice all week
Unlikely to play
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 14, 4:20 pm

Detroit Lions
Reggie Bush spent the open portion of practice today working on the side with a trainer, and the Detroit Lions are holding out hope he can play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals (4:25 p.m., Fox). Bush, who aggravated a sprained ankle in last week's win over the Miami Dolphins, was listed as questionable. (Detroit Free Press)

FFToday's Take: Bush didn't practice all week which is as good as sign as any that he won't play on Sunday. In his absence, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick will handle running back duties.

Injury Reggie Bush may sit Week 11
Nagging ankle injury continues to be an issue
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 13, 11:46 am

Detroit Lions
Caldwell said there's a possibility Lions sit Reggie Bush much like they did with Megatron to get that ankle right. Was a response to question. (Tim Twentyman via Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Bush's nagging ankle injury has made him unreliable as a fantasy running back. The last time he topped 50 total yards in any game was Week 4. If he does sit, Joique Bell becomes a low-end RB2 with Theo Riddick moving into FLEX consideration in PPR leagues.

Injury Reggie Bush limited on Sunday
Ankle injury continues to bother Lions' RB
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 10, 11:30 am

Detroit Lions
Caldwell on Reggie Bush's limited role: "He just got a little nicked up during the course of the game so he wasn’t able to do as much as he’d like". (Dave Birkett via Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Bush hasn't topped 6.5 fantasy points since Week 3. He continues to miss time on Sunday's because of a nagging ankle injury. As a result, he can't be trusted in fantasy lineups.
