Patriots re-sign Deion Branch-- Fri Mar 30 8:00 pm -- Veteran WR joins deep receiving corps
The New England Patriots have re-signed wide receiver Deion Branch and signed free agent fullbacks Tony Fiammetta and Spencer Larsen. Branch had 51 catches for 702 yards and five touchdowns last season. He was drafted by the Patriots in 2002, traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2006, and re-acquired in 2010. He is a holdover in a deep wide receiver corps that added free agents Brandon Lloyd, Donte’ Stallworth and Anthony Gonzalez in the offseason.(Yahoo Sports)
FF Today's Take:It's no secret that Tom Brady's favorite targets are Wes Welker and his two young tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. While Lloyd should emerge as a reliable contributor, don't expect Stallworth, Gonzalez or Branch to post fantasy worthy statistics if New England's starting offense is healthy.
Branch re-signs with New England-- Thu Mar 22 3:35 pm -- One-year deal
The New England Patriots reached agreement Thursday on a one-year deal with receiver Deion Branch, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The Patriots have added to an already talented receiver group this offseason, reaching deals with Brandon Lloyd, Anthony Gonzalez and Donte' Stallworth.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:This all but spells the end for Chad Ochocinco in New England and Branch is destined to be a #4 or #5 option given the signing of Brandon Lloyd. Branch's knowledge of the offense is allowing him to hang around for one more year but he should go undrafted in the majority of fantasy leagues this summer.
Patriots add WR Brandon Lloyd-- Sat Mar 17 8:40 pm -- Reunited with Josh McDaniels
Brandon Lloyd finally has his wish: tonight he and the Patriots finalized the terms of a contract that will bring the receiver to New England, a league source confirmed. The 30-year old Lloyd made no secret of the fact that he wanted to play for the Patriots, where he would be reunited with Josh McDaniels. Over the last couple of years, Lloyd has had success playing for McDaniels, first in Denver and then with the Rams.(Boston Globe)
FF Today's Take:The deal is reportedly for three years and $12 million. Lloyd's transition into the Patriots offense should be a smooth one as he's very familiar with Josh McDaniels and his offensive system. Lloyd's signing could also mean Chad Ochocinco and/or Deion Branch are on their way out of New England.
