Outside of his magical 2007 season when he threw for nearly 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns, Brady was never better than he was in 2010. Despite losing the team’s projected top receiver and only true deep threat, Randy Moss, in an early-season trade and being left with a group of merely average receivers, Brady threw for 3,900 yards and 36 touchdowns with a career-low four interceptions. He easily adapted to Moss’ departure, with the offense moving from an air-it-out to more of a dink-and-dunk approach. Considering what he accomplished last year with a lackluster receiving corps, Brady is essentially a guarantee to produce at quarterback. With talented tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez entering their second seasons and with the team hopeful that either Brandon Tate or Taylor Price can scare defenses a little on the outside, Brady should at least match his strong season from a year ago.
Gronkowski practices Friday-- Fri Feb 3 9:00 pm -- Pats TE listed as questionable, but will play
New England tight end Rob Gronkowski participated in Friday's hour-long walk-through to cap the Patriots' week of indoor practices leading up to Super Bowl XLVI. Gronkowski took the field for the second straight day after practicing on a limited basis Thursday for the first time since spraining his left ankle Jan. 22 in the AFC Championship Game. He is listed as questionable on New England's injury report for Sunday's matchup against the New York Giants.

FF Today's Take:After Tom Brady and Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski is the most important part of the Patriots' offense. Reports from practice are saying the tight end looked fairly spry today while the team was running offensive plays, so look for the 22-year-old to receive his usual heavy workload on Super Bowl Sunday.
Drew Brees hopeful about new deal-- Fri Jan 20 8:35 pm -- Saints QB optimistic he'll remain in New Orleans
Drew Brees said Friday he would be "beyond stunned" if he and the Saints are unable to agree on a contract extension during this offseason, echoing comments by coach Sean Payton this week. "My No. 1 priority, and it always has been this, is keeping our team together and making sure we have the right guys in the right positions to make a run at this for a long time," Brees said by phone from his offseason home in San Diego.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:The NFL's new single season passing yards record holder is likely to reach a new agreement with the Saints, and should remain in the top tier of quarterbacks with Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers for the foreseeable future.
Kraft optimistic about Welker re-signing-- Fri Jan 20 8:00 pm -- Pats owner: "We want him here"
Kraft also addressed wideout Wes Welker's upcoming free agency. "I think Wes wants to be here, we want him here," Kraft said, via the Herald, adding that he hopes both sides will be "wise" enough to work out a deal.(NFL.com)
FF Today's Take:After a few respectable seasons where he served not only as a receiver but as a kick and punt returner for the Miami Dolphins, Welker joined the Pats where he has been used primarily as a slot receiver. He's been nothing short of spectacular since joining Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, a trend that should continue if he re-signs.
Brady dealing with shoulder injury-- Wed Jan 18 8:45 pm -- Pats QB misses practice Wednesday
Tom Brady missed the New England Patriots first practice for the AFC championship game with an injury to his left, non-throwing shoulder.(SI)
FF Today's Take:Brady's minor shoulder strain first flared up a couple of weeks ago and isn't thought to be serious. The fantasy stud is vying for his fourth Super Bowl victory.
Joe Flacco wants more credit-- Wed Jan 11 8:00 pm -- Ravens QB displeased with media
The Ravens' best sound bites on Wednesday media days are traditionally provided by linebackers Terrell Suggs or Ray Lewis, or running back Ray Rice. All three spoke to a large gathering of reporters today, but it was quarterback Joe Flacco who stole the show with uncharacteristic candor. "If you look at the teams that won, yeah you can look at the quarterbacks but that’s just because you guys, ESPN, everybody wants to pump them up as being the best quarterback that year. It’s really going to come down to what team is the best," Flacco said. "I’m sure if we win, I’ll have nothing to do with why we won according to you guys." (Baltimore Sun)
FF Today's Take:Flacco is a good quarterback, but he is far from ranking alongside upper-echelon NFL quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees, all of whom have won the Super Bowl.
McDaniels returns to Patriots-- Sun Jan 8 9:10 pm -- Will replace outgoing OC next season
As expected, Josh McDaniels is returning to his NFL roots, reuniting with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady as a member of the Patriots coaching staff.
McDaniels will replace the departing Bill O’Brien - who was introduced yesterday as Penn State’s new head coach - as offensive coordinator, though a league source said McDaniels may have an expanded role with the team.(Boston Globe)
FF Today's Take:Good news for Tom Brady and Wes Welker, if not the entire New England offense. McDaniels had planned on using the 2010 Pats' offense has a model for his 2011 Rams' attack in that he would use the TEs extensively, but injuries and ineffectiveness squashed that plan. Still, don't expect New England to skip a beat under the same OC that helped the Pats break so many offensive records back in 2007.
Tom Brady listed as probable-- Fri Dec 30 8:15 pm -- Pats QB dealing with pain in his non-throwing shoulder
Tom Brady is listed as “probable” on the New England Patriots injury report for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Buffalo Bills. An injury to his left, non-throwing shoulder limited Brady’s participation in practice Friday for a second straight day after he sat out practice on Wednesday. He stretched with his teammates during the brief period open to reporters Friday. The “probable” designation means that there is a “virtual certainty” a player will be available for normal duty, according to the injury report.(Yahoo Sports)
FF Today's Take:No serious issues here so start the AFC's passing yards leader just as you normally would.
Brady dealing with shoulder strain?-- Wed Dec 28 7:00 pm -- Pats QB absent for start of practice Wednesday
Tom Brady was not at the start at practice, colleague Ian Rapoport reports from the upper grass field. Perhaps he’s getting a rest, or this could be related to landing hard on his left shoulder during a run late in Saturday’s game against the Dolphins. Brady needed help dressing, specifically putting his shirt on, following the win.(Boston Herald)
FF Today's Take:Thankfully for his fantasy owners, if Brady is experiencing any pain, it's not on his throwing shoulder. Expect the stud quarterback, along with Wes Welker and Rob Gronkowski to play at least until the Patriots have secured a safe lead against the Buffalo Bills this week, as the Patriots need a victory to clinch home field advantage in the AFC.
Brady playing with bruised elbow-- Mon Nov 21 10:47 am -- Bone bruise could be affecting QB's performance
The New England Patriots are well known for their organization-wide reticence when it comes to discussing injuries.
So it should come to no surprise the team has been hush-hush about Tom Brady's status the past couple of weeks as the Hall of Fame-bound quarterback has looked a little off relative to his normally pinpoint self. The Boston Globe reported in Monday's edition, citing two league sources, that Brady has suffered from a bone bruise to his right elbow since the Patriots' Oct. 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
(NFL.com)
FF Today's Take:Brady owners should not panic. The Patriots' franchise quarterback has and will continue to play through this injury. Continue to start him in all formats.
