2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
A sixth-round rookie from Tennessee who scouts had wildly differing opinions on, John Kelly enters a situation where he may see very little playing time for the foreseeable future.

Some scouts saw Kelly as a top five back in the entire class while others were turned off by his low yards-per-carry in college and poor athletic testing at the Combine. Kelly was useful in the passing game in his final season at Tennessee, however, catching 37 passes for 299 yards. He projects to be a pass-catching specialist if he's able to make the roster in Los Angeles.

Like fellow back Malcolm Brown, Kelly won't get enough playing time to be a fantasy consideration unless Gurley gets injured. Even then, he and Brown would probably split time, with Kelly potentially being the more interesting player to own due to his pass catching upside. Still, neither player should be drafted in most scoring formats unless it's a very deep league and, as a Gurley owner, you're just looking to lock up the Los Angeles backfield.

Injury Positive outlook on Gurley
Expected to play barring pregame setback
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 23, 11:00 am

Unless Rams’ RB Todd Gurley has a setback in pregame warmups today, the team is planning for him to play vs. Cardinals, per source. Rams think he has felt better as week has progressed. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Sounds like Gurley is going to play today but how much he plays will be the story. It won't be a shock to see C.J. Anderson and John Kelly also get some work.

Injury Gurley unlikely to practice all week
Status uncertain for Week 16
By: Doug Orth | Thu Dec 20, 10:35 pm

Rams RB Todd Gurley has a knee injury, and there’s a chance he may not be able to play on Sunday. Gurley has yet to practice this week. Asked by reporters on Thursday whether he could play if the game were today, Gurley said, “That’s a tough question. I haven’t tried to run. So, yeah, that’s a tough question.” If he plays, it likely will happen without practice; he said he doesn’t plan on participating at all this week. (Pro Football Talk - Mike Florio)

FFToday's Take: Not exactly the news fantasy owners were hoping for during championship week. Gurley is hoping to play, but it sounds as if he is far from a sure thing. Malcolm Brown is already done for the season and Justin Davis is also not practicing, while may leave rookie John Kelly and recent signing C.J. Anderson as the only two active backs in a highly favorable matchup against Arizona. If Gurley plays, owners should expect a reduced workload at the very least.
