Akers battled hip injury in 2012
One day after Jason Hanson retired after 21 NFL seasons, the Lions found his replacement, agreeing to terms with six-time Pro Bowler David Akers. Akers, who was released by the San Francisco 49ers last month, visited the Lions on Tuesday. (Detroit Free Press)

FF Today's Take: Akers was the top fantasy kicker by a mile in 2011 but turned in his worst season a pro in 2012 missing 13 kicks while battling a hip injury. Assuming his hip is healed, Akers should have plenty of opportunities in Detroit and be a top shelf K1 in drafts this summer.

FF Today's Take: This move was expected as Akers is coming off his worse season as a pro making 29 field goals in 42 attempts for a 69% clip. His 131 FPts ranked him 9th among fantasy kickers in 2012.
