2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Second-round pick Zay Jones will likely jump into the starting lineup opposite of Sammy Watkins, as former starters Robert Woods (LAR) and Marquise Goodwin (SF) moved out to the west coast via free agency.

At 6'2, 200 lbs, Jones worked primarily as a big slot receiver in college at Eastern Carolina but is slated to work both in the slot and outside as a member of the Bills. Jones' value in redraft will be somewhat limited this year because he will likely be the second or third option in a passing game that ranked third to last in passing yards in 2016, behind only the lowly LA Rams and San Francisco 49ers. As a result, Jones can be had in the late rounds of standard 12-team leagues.

In dynasty and keeper formats, Jones is a desirable player based on the fact that Watkins is a free agent in 2018 and it is not clear if the Bills will extend a lucrative long term offer based on Watkins' inability to stay on the field.

UPDATE 8/15/17: The path for fantasy relevance for second-round pick Zay Jones changed dramatically with the additions of Anquan Boldin via agency and the trade acquisition of Jordan Matthews from Philadelphia. Prior to the additions of Matthews and Boldin, Jones looked primed to start opposite of Sammy Watkins. On a positive note, both Boldin and Matthews are more effective as slot receivers, opening the door for Jones to take over an outside starting role if he is able to learn the new position.

Injury Bills expected to start Nathan Peterman at QB
Knee injury for Tyrod Taylor
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 10, 7:15 am

Buffalo Bills
Buffalo is expected to start rookie QB Nathan Peterman vs Colts with QB Tyrod Taylor questionable with a knee injury, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Peterman took the majority of reps in practice this week so this doesn't come as a surprise. Peterman was a disaster in his last start against the Chargers, throwing 5 INTs in the first half. Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones and TE Charles Clay are not desirable fantasy options.

Injury Bills place Jordan Matthews on IR
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Dec 5, 4:00 pm

Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills Tuesday placed defensive end Shaq Lawson and wide receiver Jordan Matthews on their injured-reserve list, ending the season for both players. Lawson suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s 23-3 loss against the New England Patriots. Matthews had been dealing with a knee issue. (Buffalo News)

FFToday's Take: Matthews had a disappointing first season in Buffalo (25-282-1) battling both knee and thumb injuries. Zay Jones will operate as the Bills No.1 receiver with Kelvin Benjamin nursing a knee injury of his own. Wide receiver Brandon Reilly will be called up from the practice squad.

Injury Kelvin Benjamin has torn meniscus
Timetable for return unknown
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 27, 5:00 pm

Buffalo Bills
Bills confirm Kelvin Benjamin has a torn meniscus. Sean McDermott misunderstood a question about his injury today. (ESPN - Mike Rodak)

FFToday's Take: It's a tough break for owners hoping he was on track for a Week 13 return. There's a strong chance Benjamin may not be able to play again during the final four games of the fantasy season, which would leave Zay Jones as the likely top receiver in Buffalo's ground-based offensive attack. If so, owners should treat the rookie as a low-end WR3.

Injury No practice for Benjamin Friday, Tolbert out
Travaris Cadet will backup McCoy
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 24, 10:30 am

Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills could be without their top wide receiver when they head to Kansas City to play the Chiefs.   Kelvin Benjamin is not expected to practice on Friday. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, either. Running back Mike Tolbert (hamstring) will be out for the Bills this week. (New York Upstate)

FFToday's Take: With both Benjamin and Tolbert likely to miss, Zay Jones and Travaris Cadet will see an increase in snaps. Cadet will be the primary backup to LeSean McCoy while Jones, Jordan Matthews and Deonte Thompson will be the top three wideouts against the Chiefs.

Injury Zay Jones out, Clay expected to play
Bills TE hasn't played since Week 5
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 10, 11:30 am

Buffalo Bills
Left tackle Cordy Glenn and wide receiver Zay Jones have been ruled out for the game because of injuries. Jones hurt his knee against the Jets and the rookie’s absence will open up more room for Kelvin Benjamin in the offense as Benjamin makes his Bills debut after last week’s trade with the Panthers. Tight end Charles Clay is questionable, although the signs have been positive about his return from a knee injury. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: The Bills should have their tight end back but will be missing WR Zay Jones. Benjamin and Jordan Matthews should be the main targets on the outside for Tyrod Taylor. Clay is a viable tight end streamer for those desperate for a warm body at the position.

Injury Jordan Matthews out at least a month
Thumb surgery
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 2, 7:15 am

Buffalo Bills
Bills WR Jordan Matthews will undergo thumb surgery and is expected to miss at least a month. (Sal Capaccio on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The loss of Matthews depletes an already weak receiving corps. Zay Jones and Andre Holmes appear to be Tyrod Taylor's top targets on the outside, but it may TE Charles Clay who sees an increase in target share.
