Entering his age 28 season, and his 7th in the NFL, it's probably safe to say Jones is on the other side of his prime. Although he is no longer the dominant league winner he was in 2019 and 2020, he remains one of the most consistent RB1s across multiple formats. Despite the presence of AJ Dillon, Jones piled up 272 touches and seven scores last season. The 1,516 total yards were the 2nd most of his career, and with Love taking over, Jones will likely be tasked to handle an additional load. Jones was able to remain incredibly efficient (5.3 yards-per-carry) despite the 2nd most carries of his career (213). Dillon aside, Jones should continue to be the back to own on this team, and has a chance to be another fantastic value pick that can anchor your backfield if you focus on receivers early in your draft.

Aaron Jones sticks in NFC North, one-year deal with MIN

FFToday's Take: It's been reported that Green Bay wanted Jones to take roughly a 50% pay cut as he was set to make roughly $12 million. Jones (29) will now wear purple and likely share running back duties with Ty Chandler. He was battling hamstring injuries most of 2023 but did finish the season with five-straight 100-yard rushing games.

|  | After reaching agreement today with free-agent RB Josh Jacobs, the Packers informed RB Aaron Jones that he is being released, per source. Jones now will be a free agent. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Jones had a cap hit of $17 million this season which needed to be reduced. With the two sides failing to renegotiate, Jones will be released and can now sign with any team, which probably won't take long. Jacobs (26) will now move into the starting running back role in Green Bay while AJ Dillon is a free agent. Jacobs racked up 270 touches last season but only had 3.5 yards carry.

FFToday's Take: The 2024 free agent RB class is stacked with Jacobs, Barkley, Pollard, Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler. The question is, what kind of deals are these veterans going to get? We've seen the market slowly dry up for veteran RBs over the last few years with Jacobs and Barkley settling for one-year deals just last season. Alvin Kamara and Aaron Jones are also cut candidates given the money their going to count against the salary cap this season.
