| One of the hottest players to watch in training camp has to be rookie Kansas City running back Kareem Hunt. Hunt is getting a ton of hype right now with some sources close to the team even indicating that he will not only be a major part of the backfield to start the season, but could have the inside edge to finish with the highest number of running back touches in 2017. Running back coach Eric Bieniemy has been specifically praising Hunt's skills as a pass catcher, which could lead to Hunt getting the majority of work on third downs as long as he can pick up his pass protection assignments. Hunt was highly productive in college at Toledo, including rushing for over 100 yards in each of his final five games. He caught four or more passes in six of his 13 games as a senior.
| Charcandrick West downgraded to Out|
Chiefs running back situation unlear
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Dec 30, 3:30 pm
|Chiefs RB Charcandrick West has been downgraded to OUT for Sunday’s game vs. Broncos with an illness. (BJ Kissel on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: West was expected to see the majority of carries in a meaningless finale for the Chiefs but he missed practice all week with an illness. Akeem Hunt (shoulder) could see increased reps at running back if the Chiefs elect to sit Kareem Hunt. This is a situation for fantasy owners to avoid until we get some clarity.

|Kenny Acker, Rock Nunez-Roches and Charcandrick West are sick and not present today (Terez Paylor on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: West could see a big role this week if Andy Reid decides to hold out Kareem Hunt of the regular season finale. Players very rarely miss a game due to illness so it's likely we'll see West on the field this week against the Chargers.
|Patrick Mahomes to start for KC|
Chiefs will go with rookie QB in Week 17
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 27, 12:45 pm
|Patrick Mahomes will indeed start at quarterback for the Chiefs on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: With the Chiefs locked into the No.4 seed in the AFC, many of the starters including Alex Smith will get some rest in Week 17. Head coach Andy Reid didn't specifically name players but it's likely Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce and other frontline players won't see their normal workload. The matchup isn't ideal but Mahomes is an intriguing option on Draftkings ($4700) and Fanduel ($6000).
| Charcandrick West out, personal reasons |
Kareem, Akeem Hunt to handle RB duties
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 1, 7:00 pm
|Andy Reid says Dee Ford (back, Eric Murray (ankle) and Charcandrick West (personal reasons) will not play Sunday vs the Jets. (Terez Paylor on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Kareem Hunt and Akeem Hunt will handle running back duties for the Chiefs this week. With West out, Kareem will should see a few extra touches this week making him more appealing in DFS tournaments. The Jets represent a neutral matchup for fantasy running backs.
