2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Shepard appears to be the primary loser in the New York passing game with the addition of Brandon Marshall, as his 105 targets as a rookie in 2016 will be quite difficult to replicate in 2017. This is unfortunate for Shepard because he was a more efficient pass catcher than Odell Beckham Jr. (61.9% catch percentage compared to 59.5 for OBJ), and he averaged the same number of fantasy points per game as DeAndre Hopkins and Willie Snead. Perhaps the first round selection of tight end Evan Engram will be the biggest hit to Shepard, with Engram likely to take away slot routes across the middle. For this reason, Shepard is a fringe draft pick in anything other than large 12 and 14 team leagues, but would have significant value should Marshall or Beckham Jr. get injured.

Injury Sterling Shepard officially inactive
Migraines
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 19, 11:30 am

New York Giants
Giants’ WR Sterling Shepard is inactive today vs Chiefs due to migraines. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants receiving corps takes another major hit. With high winds expected in this game against the Chiefs, fantasy owners should probably avoid Manning, Tavarres King and Roger Lewis.

Injury Sterling Shepard may sit with migraines
Giants could be down the No.1 receiver
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 19, 7:00 am

New York Giants
The #Giants may be without WR Sterling Shepard, a late addition to their injury report, due to migraines, source says. They’ll check him out closer to kickoff to be sure. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Shephard was added to the injury report on Saturday with an "illness" designation. If he sits, the Giants would be down to Tavarres King and Roger Lewis as starting wide receivers. Expect TE Evan Engram to be the top target if Shepard is declared inactive. For what it's worth, wind could be a factor in this game.

Injury Perkins, Shephard out for the Giants
Avoid Giants if possible
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 13, 9:22 am

New York Giants
OUT for Giants on Sunday: Jonathan Casillas, Olivier Vernon, WR Sterling Shepard, DE Romeo Okwara, TB Paul Perkins, C Weston Richburg. Ouch! (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Both were expected to miss Week 6 so this isn't much of a surprise. The Giants running backs against the Broncos will be Orleans Darkwa, Shane Vereen and rookie Wayne Gallman. The Broncos have been best against the run so far in 2017 with no rushing TDs allowed. Vereen should be considered as a desperation PPR play.

Injury WR Shepard, RB Perkins miss practice Wed
S Landon Collins and DE Olivier Vernon also sit out
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Oct 11, 1:00 pm

New York Giants
Sterling Shepard wasn't spotted at Wednesday's practice, which wasn't a surprise after he was spotted with his left foot in a walking boot on Tuesday. Shepard sprained his left ankle for the second time in two months on Sunday. Perkins missed Sunday's game after injuring his ribs in Week 4. He took part in stretching at the start of Wednesday's practice and then watched from the sideline when drills started. Landon Collins wasn't spotted at Wednesday's practice after he sprained his ankle in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Chargers. As he did last week, Olivier Vernon (ankle) worked on the side with a trainer during Wednesday's practice. (NJ.com)

FFToday's Take: In the aftermath of losing several players for the season, the Giants continue to deal with injuries to key playmakers on both sides of the ball. Shepard is still considered day-to-day so check back later in the week for an update. After solid outings from Wayne Gallman and Orleans Darkwa, the Giants may prefer to keep Perkins out for another week. New York's RBBC already has plenty of mouths to feed so it will be tough for fantasy managers to predict who will have the best fantasy outing moving forward.

Injury Brandon Marshall done for the year
Will have ankle surgery tomorrow
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 9, 8:30 pm

New York Giants
Tomorrow I’ll have surgery ending year 12. I’m filled with mixed emotions. I wasn’t able to produce for my team the way I wanted to but this was my greatest year to date. This game has shown me who I really am good and bad. This game has given me the opportunity to grow as a man, father, husband, teammate, leader.. . I’m so thankful for this game. (Brandon Marshall on Instagram)

FFToday's Take: Brandon Marshall injured his ankle on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season. The Giants will have a new wide receiver corps in Week 6 after Odell Beckham Jr. broke his ankle in the same game. Roger Lewis, Sterling Shepard (ankle) and Tavarres King will try and pick up the pieces on the outside.

Injury Giants add to receiving corps
Travis Rudolph, Tavarres King signed
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 9, 8:00 am

New York Giants
No one can replace Odell Beckham Jr. as far as what he brings to the field for the Giants, but there is his roster spot to fill. Monday morning, the Giants signed Travis Rudolph off their practice squad, with more moves to come as they seek to rebuild their battered wide receiver corps. Tavarres King has also been signed (New York Post)

FFToday's Take: It was a brutal day for the Giants receiving corps losing Odell Beckham Jr. (broken ankle), Dwayne Harris (fractured foot), Brandon Marshall (sprained ankle) and Sterling Shepard (ankle). Beckham and Harris are out for the year. For now it appears Roger Lewis, King and Rudolph are the top three wide receiver options for Eli Manning. Expect TE Evan Engram to be more involved moving forward. Next up on the schedule for the Giants: at Denver, home for Seattle.

Injury Odell Beckham iffy for Week 1
Beckham: "I wouldn’t count it out"
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 7, 7:00 am

New York Giants
Will he play? “I wouldn’t count it out,’’ Beckham said Wednesday. “My heart — it’s just not going to make this easy. I can say that it’s a day-to-day thing — really trying to get better. It’s been two weeks. I’m itching. I’m itching, but just patience and trusting." (New York Post)

FFToday's Take: Beckham is two weeks removed from a high ankle sprain so naturally his status for Week 1 is up in the air. He worked on the side yesterday in practice. Head coach Bob McAdoo said Beckham could play if he doesn't practice this week. It appears Beckham is on the wrong side of questionable heading into Thursday's practice. Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard will take on a bigger role if Beckham sits.
