2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Oh what a year 2016 could have been for the second-year pro out of Baylor. After a 5-104-2 line in only his second NFL game, Coleman's litany of injuries (hand, hamstring) helped to contribute to his wholly ineffective season. Despite the outlandish upside, Coleman again missed precious off-season work with more lower body injuries, and has only recently been cleared for camp. Cleveland desperately needs a big season out of their former 1st rounder, and there is no doubt Coleman has the talent to deliver. If he can manage to stay on the field, he and Kenny Britt should form a fine duo for the gang of Cleveland quarterbacks. Coleman needs improved chemistry and consistency, as he caught only 42% of the passes thrown his way, far below the 60-65% that most outside receivers average.

Coleman is another young Brown I have a hard time getting overly excited about. The injury history certainly turns me off, but the raw talent and potential is intoxicating. Until Cleveland can get some consistent quarterback play, the offense is going to be held back, therefore limiting the ceiling Coleman has. I'd certainly be happy to have him on my team as a WR3/4 that has a WR2 ceiling if things really come together. He's young and talented enough to take a flier on later in your drafts, and has more upside than teammate Kenny Britt.

Rashard Higgins listed as Browns starter
WR was on practice squad last week
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 19, 11:33 am

Cleveland Browns
Mary Kay Cabot (@MarkKayCabot) posted a shot of the Browns depth chart, and Rashard Higgins was listed as a starting WR. (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Higgins gets a starting role moving forward with Corey Coleman (broken hand) headed to IR/DFR. He snagged 7-95-0 on 11 targets last week and some NFL analysts have been high on Higgins since he was drafted in the fifth round last season. He's worth snagging as a WR3/4 or flex play and has breakout WR2 upside since the Browns will be playing from behind a lot this season.

Corey Coleman to undergo hand surgery
Suffered fractured right hand in Week 2
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 5:05 pm

Cleveland Browns
Corey Coleman's right hand is in fact broken again and will need surgery this time, a source told Coleman visited a hand specialist (Monday), and the fracture was confirmed. It's the same hand that Coleman broke last season in practice after week two and caused him to miss six games. The original injury healed without surgery, and Coleman was back on the field at midseason. This one will require surgery. (The Cleveland Plain-Dealer)

FFToday's Take: Coleman has been snake-bitten with injuries since entering the league in 2016, as suffering a fracture in the same hand at roughly the same time in consecutive seasons will attest. With Kenny Britt doing next to nothing so far, it might be up to Week 2 breakout receiver Rashard Higgins to live up to his "Hollywood" nickname. Higgins may be the hottest add in leagues this week.

Injury Another broken hand for Corey Coleman
Not known if surgery will be required
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 18, 10:30 am

Cleveland Browns
Corey Coleman's right hand is in fact broken again, a source told Coleman visited a hand specialist today, and the fracture was confirmed. It's the same hand that Coleman broke last season in practice after week two and caused him to miss six games, but it's not yet known if it's the same bone or if he'll need surgery. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

FFToday's Take: In Coleman's absence, Rashard Higgins saw 11 targets while Kenny Britt and Sammie Coates seemed disinterested at times. The Browns receiving corps is quickly turning into a dumpster fire and a situation for fantasy owners to avoid.

Kenny Britt already in doghouse?
HC upset with receiver's brutal drop in Week 1
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 11, 4:30 pm

Cleveland Browns
Browns HC Hue Jackson on if Kenny Britt will keep his starting job: 'Let's see where we go this week' (The Cleveland Plain-Dealer)

FFToday's Take: Fashioned by some as a fantasy sleeper just a week or two ago and signed a four-year, $32.5 million contract in March, Britt finished with one catch for 13 yards in his Browns' debut and was out-targeted by fellow starter Corey Coleman 14-6. Even if Jackson drops the hammer and doesn't start Britt in Week 2, Cleveland doesn't have much else at receiver to keep him on the bench for long. Still, he needs to be on fantasy benches in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Corey Coleman enjoying rapport with new QB
Rookie DeShone Kizer and talented WR establishing connection
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 29, 10:28 am

Cleveland Browns
Corey Coleman said he's excited about the possibility of DeShone Kizer taking over as QB. The pair got off to a nice start Saturday against Tampa Bay in Kizer’s first start, hooking up on a 32-yarder down the sideline on third-and-4, an 11-yard slant on third-and-10 from the 1 and a 13-yard out on third-and-9. “It could be a very bright future for both of us if we keep on doing what we need to do,” Coleman said Monday. (Browns Zone)

FFToday's Take: Kizer, the No. 52 pick out of Notre Dame in April, was named the starting quarterback for the season. Coleman, the No. 15 pick out of Baylor in 2016, is expected to fill the role of No. 1 wideout. Both could make for some solid draft day values.

Duke Johnson the next slot receiver in Cleveland?
Beat reporters anticipate elevated receiving role for Duke
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jul 23, 10:00 am

Cleveland Browns
Hue Jackson will have to plan his passing attack around his wideouts, his top two tight ends in Seth DeValve and David Njoku, and his all-purpose back in Duke Johnson, who has been lining up as a slot receiver. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

FFToday's Take: With Corey Coleman and Kenny Britt likely to hold down the two outside receiving spots, there's speculation among the Browns beat reporters that Johnson could replace Andrew Hawkins as the primary slot receiver. Johnson's rushing attempts dropped from 104 in 2015 to 74 in 2016. Increased time in slot would boost Johnson's value in PPR leagues where's he's currently being drafted in Round 10.
