2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
One of the more boring players who is likely to get regular playing time this season is veteran Jermaine Kearse. Expected to be pushed down to the WR3 spot behind Baldwin and Lockett in 2016, Kearse ended up playing more than ever in no small part due to Lockett's nagging injuries. He ended up being targeted a career-high 89 times and while that sounds good on paper, his catch rate was so horrendous that he finished with just 510 receiving yards and one touchdown - his worst fantasy season since his rookie season of 2012 when he played in just seven games. Kearse's catch rate was literally more than 30 percentage points behind that of teammate Doug Baldwin. It's a bit unfair to compare him to one of the league's most efficient pass catchers who does most of his work underneath, but the point is that this isn't just a matter of Russell Wilson not being able to get him the ball - it's a matter of Kearse simply not being very good.

With Lockett expected to be ready to go by Week 1, Kearse seemingly offers little upside unless Baldwin and Lockett both go down with injuries. Even then, he'd be the projected WR1 on what would likely be a terrible offense. Kearse will go undrafted in most leagues and rightfully so.

Jeremey Kerley returning to New York
Signs 1-year deal after being released by 49ers
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Sep 6, 1:00 am

New York Jets
Two months after criticizing the team's former offensive coordinator, wide receiver Jeremy Kerley is reuniting with the New York Jets. Kerley, 28, released Saturday by the San Francisco 49ers, signed a one-year contract to play for the team that drafted him in 2011. (ESPN.com)

FFToday's Take: None of the Jets' receivers offer significant upside heading into 2017, however, the recently signed Jeremy Kerley should have a pulse in deeper PPR formats. He should lay claim to the slot role in New York and be a frequent target for QB Josh McCown. Conversely, Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse are even riskier fantasy plays week-to-week as they split fewer targets.

Seahawks ship WR Jermaine Kearse to Jets
Seattle lands DL Sheldon Richardson
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 1, 2:42 pm

New York Jets
The Seattle Seahawks' terrifying defense just hit the upgrade button. The Seahawks acquired defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson from the New York Jets in exchange for receiver Jermaine Kearse and a 2018 second-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported, per sources informed of the pact. The teams also swapped seventh-round selections in the deal. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The Jets bolstered(?) their amazingly thin receiving corps with Kearse who should have a good chance at steady playing time. That being said, his fantasy value remains minimal given the sorry state of the Jets offense. Tyler Lockett Paul Richardson and Kasen Williams move up the depth chart in Seattle behind Doug Baldwin.
