Peyton to make decision "in a week or two"
Dad addresses son's health in interview
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jan 29, 8:50 pm

Denver Broncos
Former NFL quarterback Archie Manning said Thursday that he expects Peyton Manning to decide on whether he plays in 2015 “maybe in the next week or two." Archie Manning made his comments during an appearance from the Super Bowl media center touched on Peyton Manning’s impending decision as well as the quarterback’s right thigh injury he suffered in December. “He’s given a lot of thought to it," Archie Manning said. “My advice for him is to go through the process, get away a little bit, let your leg heal, give it a lot of throught and decide what you’re going to do … [I] think he’s taken a good evaluation of where he is physically." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: As much as Denver has stated it likes Brock Osweiler, it probably goes without saying the Broncos would like to get one more year out of Manning. The hiring of HC Gary Kubiak should mean the offense is balanced while new DC Wade Phillips is a good bet to get more out of Denver's defense than new Raiders HC Jack Del Rio could.

Gary Kubiak, new head coach of Broncos
Four-year deal
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Jan 19, 9:30 am

Denver Broncos
Gary Kubiak has agreed to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos, the team announced Monday. Kubiak's deal is for four years, according to multiple reports. He spent the past season as the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator. Before joining the Ravens' staff, Kubiak had served as head coach of the Houston Texans. The Broncos will introduce him at a Tuesday afternoon news conference. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Kubiak is a west coast offense guy so melding with QB Peyton Manning, assuming he returns, may be a challenge. Kubiak likes to run play-action fakes and rollouts which isn't what Manning is used to. It's quite possible that Kubiak will defer to Manning's style of offense for the upcoming season.

Broncos, HC John Fox part ways
Four-year runs ends with a 46-18 record
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 12, 6:00 pm

Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos and coach John Fox have mutually agreed to part ways, team sources confirmed to ESPN.com. The move comes a day after the Broncos were eliminated from the playoffs by the Indianapolis Colts, and a year after the team's first appearance in a Super Bowl since John Elway, now the team's general manager, retired as quarterback. The separation ends Fox's four-year tenure with the Broncos that saw the coach miss part of last season as he recovered from a heart procedure. Fox led Denver to AFC West titles in each of his four seasons as coach. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Jay Glazer was out in front of this yesterday, mentioning that Fox could be coaching for his job against the Colts. Elway's moves in free agency this past offseason suggested the Broncos expect to win a Super Bowl in the next 2-3 years, so the disappointment of coming up short again this weekend was enough for Denver to make the move. Expect OC Adam Gase to be one of the frontrunners for the job in an effort to entice Peyton Manning to return for at least one more year, although Elway might opt to go with someone with head-coaching experience.

Injury Peyton's been playing with torn quad
Injury occured Week 13 against San Diego
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Jan 12, 10:03 am

Denver Broncos
Peyton Manning initially tore his right quad Dec. 14 in win over Chargers, per sources. MRI back in Denver confirmed tear. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Manning's statistical decline begin two weeks prior when he threw for 179 yards against Kansas City (Wk 11) and 173 yards against Buffalo (Wk 12). Manning was noncommittal on his future after yesterday's loss to the Colts voicing health and coach concerns as reasons for his hesitation.

Injury Peyton Manning dealing with thigh injury
Broncos unconcerned about availability for Week 16
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 15, 4:35 pm

Denver Broncos
After Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning made an early exit to the locker room before halftime, the team ultimately announced that he was probable to return to Sunday’s win over the Chargers with a thigh injury. Per a league source, the Broncos have no lingering concern about said thigh injury. The team believes the thigh problem was related to Peyton’s illness, and that it won’t affect his preparation for next Monday’s game against the Bengals. His decision to head to the locker room early was aimed at getting the thigh worked on by the strength coach and trainer at halftime. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: It appears Manning was dealing with an illness this weekend as well and the thigh injury was in some way associated with it, causing him to leave the field late in the first half in order to get worked on by the trainer. Manning returned for the second half of Week 15 without incident. A much bigger concern for his owners is the devotion the Broncos have shown to their C.J. Anderson-led ground game. For now, consider Manning a low-end QB1 for Denver's Week 16 matchup with the Bengals.

Injury Julius Thomas limited in practice
Remains optimistic about playing against Bills
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Dec 3, 7:45 pm

Denver Broncos
''Julius is one of our top players and when you have one of your top players go out, you are going to miss him,'' Peyton Manning said Wednesday. ''We hope to get Julius back out there. There's no question when he's out there he makes a difference, he makes a lot of plays for us.'' Thomas leads the league with a dozen TD catches even though he hasn't scored since Nov. 9. He was limited at practice Wednesday and hopes to return to action this weekend against the Buffalo Bills (7-5). (AP)

FFToday's Take: The Broncos' week 14 opponent, Buffalo, ranks fifth against the pass this season and Denver has rekindled their running game of late. Nonetheless, it will be tough to sit Julius Thomas if he is cleared to play so check back later in the week for an update on his playing status.
