News From The Past 90 Days
Peyton Manning calling it a career
18 seasons and two Super Bowl victories
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Mar 6, 10:26 am

Denver Broncos
Peyton Manning's Super Bowl 50 victory over the Carolina Panthers was indeed his last rodeo. The five-time NFL MVP is retiring, the Denver Broncos announced Sunday. The team will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. ET Monday for Manning to discuss his stepping away from the game after 18 seasons and two Super Bowl victories. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: A lock for the Hall of Fame, Manning will go down as one of the great quarterbacks in NFL history. He's the all-time leader in passing touchdowns (539) and passing yards (71,940). On the business side, Manning's retirement clears $19 million in cap room and makes free agent Brock Osweiler the likely starting quarterback in Denver for 2016, assuming they can sign him.

Peyton not ready to make retirement decision
Will wait a few weeks before making an announcement
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Feb 8, 7:00 am

Denver Broncos
Fresh off the Denver Broncos' victory in Super Bowl 50, quarterback Peyton Manning tells TODAY he's going to enjoy his victory for a few weeks before deciding whether he will continue his career. "I'll keep doing it for a few more weeks, and then, at the appropriate time, I think I'll make a decision," Manning said. "I have to tell you, though, I'm very much at peace with it." (Today.com)

FFToday's Take: With another Super Bowl victory under his belt it would be a shock if Manning didn't hang it up. His skills have been in obvious decline the last two seasons and its highly unlikely he'll get another opportunity to go out on top. Brock Osweiler is the favorite to be the Broncos starting quarterback in 2016.

Peyton Manning will need hip surgery in future
Nothing imminent as Peyton downplays his latest health concerns
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Feb 3, 5:55 pm

Denver Broncos
On Wednesday, Peyton Manning revealed that he eventually needs to undergo hip replacement surgery, according to a doctor who was kind enough to break the news to the aging quarterback. (CBSSports.com)

FFToday's Take: Peyton Manning downplayed this report by deeming it something he will need to do at "age 52" but the fact remains that he will be another year older and his body is clearly wearing down. Nonetheless, there are certainly going to be NFL teams interested in him if he is physically able to play the position in 2016.
