|Redskins auditioning running backs|
Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles, Orleans Darkwa
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Aug 19, 1:48 pm
|The #Redskins are hosting veteran RB Adrian Peterson, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The Pro Bowler is an intriguing option for Washington. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: In addition to Peterson the Redskins have also been in contact with Jamaal Charles and Orleans Darkwa. Washington has a host of injury problems at the position including Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle) all banged up. Martez Carter (leg) has been waived.
| Perine OK after ankle injury|
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Aug 17, 7:00 am
|Samaje Perine was done after one play as he hurt his ankle on a 30-yard run that kicked off the team’s second drive of the evening. Byron Marshall would leave with a lower leg injury later in the proceedings as well.
Perine was in a walking boot after the game, but coach Jay Gruden downplayed the severity of the injury.
“Looks like it was OK. Twisted ankle for Samaje,” Gruden said in his postgame press conference. (Pro Football Talk)|
FFToday's Take: The Redskins will likely take it easy with Perine the rest of the pre-season given he's the frontrunner to start Week 1. Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson, Kapri Bibbs and Martez Carter are next up on the depth chart.
| Guice diagnosed with sprained MCL|
MRI to confirm
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Aug 10, 10:15 am
|#Redskins RB Derrius Guice, who injured his knee last night, received an initial diagnosis of a sprained MCL, source said. He’ll have an MRI to confirm. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: While not good news, it could've been worse. We'll wait for the MRI but it appears Guice will be missing most if not all the rest of the pre-season. His fantasy stock will certainly take a hit but it's not out the question that he could be ready to play Week 1. The Redskins have plethora of RBs on the depth chart including Samaje Perine, Rob Kelley, Kapri Bibbs and Byron Marshall.
