2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Kelley ran away with the starting job beginning Week 8 last season taking over for fumble-prone Matt Jones, who is out of the picture and buried on the depth chart. Rookie Samaje Perine, and third-down back Chris Thompson join Kelley as a likely three-headed monster for Jay Gruden in 2017.

"Fat Rob" finished with a respectable 704 yards and seven total touchdowns in 2016, but his 4.2 yard per carry average, including 3.4 in his final four games did not separate him enough to make him the clear-cut starter in 2017 but is instead penciled in to receive the bulk of the carries on early-downs the time Week 1 rolls around. With Perine, a talented rookie taken in the fourth round out of Oklahoma in the mix, Kelley could be in for a timeshare or lose his starting role altogether depending on how well Perine plays to start the season. Expect Chris Thompson to play his usual third-down role and garner 2-7 rushing attempts per game.

Injury Redskins place Rob Kelley on IR
Chris Thompson and Samaje Parine to split backfield duties
By: Jake Gordon | Tue Nov 14, 7:00 pm

Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins placed starting running back Rob Kelley and inside linebacker Will Compton on injured reserve. (Washington Times)

FFToday's Take: Chris Thompson and Samaje Parine will continue to shoulder the load for the Redskins this season. Both players have fantasy relevance the rest of the way with Thompson being the preferred option this week as a RB2 with upside in a road game against the Saints.

Injury Rob Kelley suffers ankle, knee injuries
High ankle aprain, MCL injury
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 13, 11:43 am

Washington Redskins
Rough Sunday for #Redskins RB Rob Kelley: After tests this morning, Kelley was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain AND a grade 1/2 MCL sprain in his knee. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This sounds like Kelley will miss some time meaning Samaje Perine should get some run on early-downs over the next few weeks. He doesn't have much of a ceiling but will be a TD-dependent RB2 moving forward.

Injury Rob Kelley likely to be limited
Nursing ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 5, 7:30 am

Washington Redskins
#Redskins RB Rob Kelley, listed as questionable and still nursing an ankle injury, is expected to play. But he won't have a full workload. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Despite getting some early-down work Kelley isn't a real option for fantasy owners. Chris Thompson is the back to own in Washington and is a viable RB2 especially in PPR leagues. Kelley hasn't seen double-digit carries since Week 2.

Injury Jordan Reed out, Crowder questionable
Vernon Davis to start at TE
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 3, 1:30 pm

Washington Redskins
Washington ruled out TEs Jordan Reed and Niles Paul for Sunday at Seattle. OT Trent Williams doubtful, RB Rob Kelley and Jamison Crowder Q. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Reed will miss Week 9 with a hamstring injury while Crowder will go through a workout on Saturday to determine his status. Crowder has missed practice all week. If he sits, Ryan Grant should see increased work along side Josh Doctson and Terrelle Pryor.
