2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Owners in PPR leagues should consider adding second-year running back James White to their late-round list of targets. White, a former fourth round pick from the University of Wisconsin, is the leading candidate to take over the passing down role abdicated by the departed Shane Vereen. White is young and other players like Travaris Cadet, Dion Lewis and Brandon Bolden could end up taking the former role of Vereen, but for PPR owners looking for a possible draft and stash play, White could be an excellent option.

James White becoming "dependable" option
Pats OC Josh McDaniels lauds utility, reliability of passing down back
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 22, 12:00 pm

New England Patriots
It's been an impressive three-week stretch for second-year New England Patriots "running back" James White, who the Pats coaches have praised recently. "James has really come on and been a dependable guy for us," McDaniels said. "His work ethic since we drafted him last year [fourth round] and his maturity, his intelligence, his ability to retain information from one week to the next has always given him an opportunity to know what to do, and then now hes had those opportunities in game situations to go out there and perform on the field. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Sounds like White makes for a fine low-end RB2 or high-end RB3/flex play this week. He's got more value (especially in PPR leagues) than Brandon Bolden or even the recently acquired Steven Jackson.

New England works out Steven Jackson
Veteran RB played for OC Josh McDaniels in St. Louis
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Dec 16, 5:46 pm

New England Patriots
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported New England worked out Steven Jackson on Wednesday, according to a source informed of the team's thinking. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: New England is simply looking at every available option to fortify what is left of their backfield in preparation for a playoff run. Steven Jackson may be able to provide another able bodied player for the team to rely on down the stretch but his role would be limited over the final weeks of the fantasy season. James White and Brandon Bolden are still the best fantasy options in the wake of LeGarrette Blount's injury.

Injury Blount to miss rest of the season with hip injury
Brandon Bolden expected to see increased role
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Dec 15, 5:35 pm

New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount will miss the remainder of the season because of a hip injury, a source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Blount suffered the injury in Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Brandon Bolden is next in line to take over the power-back option in the Patriots offense with James White being used in a pass-catching role. Bolden, Denard Robinson and Bryce Brown are top waiver wire adds at running back for those owners still in the playoffs.

Injury Pats' Dion Lewis out for the year with ACL injury
RB injured in Week 9
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 9, 1:40 pm

New England Patriots
Tough news out of Foxborough: Patriots RB Dion Lewis out for the season with torn ACL per team source. (Jim McBride on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Lewis is was a key cog in the Patriots offensive machine and will be missed. Brandon Bolden and James White are available to soak up the passing game role out of the backfield while LeGarrette Blount remains the between the tackles runner.
