2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Stoutly built at 5'9'', 225 lbs. with quick feet and good vision, Terrance West has a chance to carve out a large role in the Cleveland running game. Capable of heavy workloads, the Atlantic 10 prospect from Towson also has a nose for the end zone with 84, yes 84 touchdowns in three college seasons. As he continues to develop as a pass catcher (only 36 career college receptions) expect West to get the bulk of his work inside the 20. West is going to challenge Tate for playtime as soon as the opening weekend and is a must-handcuff for anyone drafting Tate as a starter. Should Tate miss time during the season, West could quickly pick up RB2 value, but for now, add West as a high-upside RB3 and hope he sees the field early and often.

Comment: You'll see a lot of Tate and West on the ground in Cleveland this season as the Browns passing game struggles without Josh Gordon.

Browns, OC Kyle Shanahan part ways
Split reportedly due to disagreement over Manziel
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jan 8, 5:15 pm

Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns' tradition of change continues, as a team source told ESPN.com Thursday that OC Kyle Shanahan and QBs coach Dowell Loggains will not return next season. Shanahan resigned and Loggains was fired, according to a league source. Both spent one year with the Browns, and both were under contract for 2015. Sources familiar with the situation said the split was caused because the pair did not see eye to eye with the front office about QB Johnny Manziel. The front office wants Manziel to be the starter, and the source said the coaches do not believe they can win with him. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Good luck to the Browns finding another offensive mind that did what Shanahan did for their offense in 2014. The Browns were without three Pro Bowlers on offense for large portions of the season: C Alex Mack, TE Jordan Cameron and WR Josh Gordon. Despite that, the Browns scored at least 21 points in nine of the first 11 games. Shanahan's departure figures to have a significant impact on the fantasy values of every Cleveland player, particularly Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West.

Terrance West to start for Browns
A week after not receiving a carry
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 28, 8:58 am

Cleveland Browns
Baltimore native Terrance West will start at running back today for the Browns against the Ravens. The rookie's role fluctuated in 2014. (Jason LaCanfora on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: West didn't even play last week so this move is peculiar at best. Despite the starting nod the Browns offense is off limits in daily league play this week. UDFA Connor Shaw is starting at QB, Josh Gordon is suspended and the Ravens need a victory to make the playoffs. Look elsewhere.

Injury HC: Don't know if Isaiah Crowell is 100 percent
Dealing with hip injury
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 15, 4:45 pm

Cleveland Browns
Browns HC Mike Pettine: I don't know if RB Isaiah Crowell (hip) is 100 percent. Probably a better question for him. (Nate Ulrich on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Browns weren't doing much of anything in Johnny Manziel's first career start. Crowell hasn't topped four yards per carry in three straight games, so the hip may indeed be a bigger issue than he is letting on. If Crowell misses time, it would mean more work for Terrance West, although the latter would only go from a week flex play to a slightly stronger flex play.

Browns waive Ben Tate
Colts, other teams needing healthy RBs could have interest
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 18, 12:00 pm

Cleveland Browns
The Browns announced Tuesday they waived running back Ben Tate, who was in his first season with the team. Tate signed a two-year deal with Cleveland in the offseason. Tate rushed for 333 yards and four touchdowns on 106 carries in eight games. He also had nine catches for 60 yards. However, his role in recent weeks has diminished as Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West have seen their playing time increase. Tate expressed his frustration last week when he said he would "be lying" if he was satisfied with the Browns' three-back rotation, according to Cleveland.com. (CBS)

FFToday's Take: The Colts are in the market for a proven NFL running back that can handle a heavy workload. Don't cut Tate just yet as he might catch on with another squad -- and see work almost immediately.

Browns still have no clear leader in RBBC
HC: "We're not just going to pick one"
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 17, 3:15 pm

Cleveland Browns
Despite entering the game ranked 12th in rushing, the Browns have no set running-back rotation. Nobody has grabbed hold of the featured-back role, and free-agent signing Ben Tate seems to be slipping out of favor with the coaching staff. He earned just two attempts Sunday against his former team - running for minus-9 yards - and getting just 10 attempts last week. "It's something we'll look at week to week," HC Mike Pettine said. "We're not just going to pick one. When you go in a game-plan situation you look at what gives us the best chance to win." (Cleveland Plain-Dealer)

FFToday's Take: The Browns appear to be moving on from Tate, so it appears the dice-roll owners will have to make each week will be between Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell. To that end, West, who carried 26 times for 94 yards against the Bengals, had just five attempts versus the Texans. It's a frustrating situation for all parties involved and makes both rookies nothing better than flex plays until one player emerges - if they do at all.

Isaiah Crowell to get the start for Browns?
RBBC still in effect
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 16, 12:05 pm

Cleveland Browns
Yes, it appears #Browns giving RB Isaiah Crowell the start. (Tony Grossi via Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Crowell will get the first crack and receiving the most carries in the crowded three-headed RBBC in Cleveland. Expect Terrance West and Ben Tate to get touches as well. It's a situation to avoid for fantasy owners.
