| Watkins practices Friday, expected to play|
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 2, 1:05 pm
|Bills receiver Marquise Goodwin was back at practice Friday after leaving Thursday's session early with a wrist injury.
Sammy Watkins, who returned from injured reserve last week but is playing with a broken bone in his foot, was also on the field Friday morning. He was held out of practice Wednesday and was a limited participant Thursday. (Buffalo News)|
FFToday's Take: HC Rex Ryan said "He's going to play" regarding Watkins' status for Week 13. He's obviously not 100 percent healthy so starting him comes with a fair amount of risk. His matchup against the Raiders is decent as Oakland has allowed 7th-most fantasy points to wide receivers.
| Sammy Watkins unlikely to finish season?|
OC doesn't know if Watkins will play one play or 20 plays
By: Doug Orth | Thu Dec 1, 7:35 pm
|Bills OC Anthony Lynn bluntly declares Thursday that "last I heard, [Sammy Watkins] has a broken bone in his foot." Lynn doesn't know whether Watkins will play "1 play or 20 plays," and says he is uncertain whether Watkins will be able to finish the season. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: It seems more likely than not Watkins will try to push through his injury as long as the Bills remain in the playoff race, but his availability each week certainly cannot be taken for granted. This news makes him more of a dice-roll WR3/flex moving forward than a possible WR2 with a favorable fantasy playoff schedule.

Bills WR over foot injury and ready for Week 13 at Oakland
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 29, 8:40 am
|"I didn't really care about catching the ball," Sammy Watkins said after the Bills' 28-21 win at New Era Field. "I just wanted to feel good. Go out there, block a couple of plays, just get the feel of the game." (Buffalo News)|
FFToday's Take: Watkins seems to be over the foot injury. He played a little less than half of the snaps in Week 12 but should be heavily involved against the Raiders. Expect 8+ targets and WR value from the oft-injured WR.
| Sammy Watkins expected to start|
Percy Harvin dealing with migraines

|#Bills WR Sammy Watkins, activated off IR on Sat, will not only play but start, source said. His playtime will depend on how his foot feels. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: With Percy Harvin (migraines) and Robert Woods (knee) expected to miss this week's game, Watkins will be in the starting lineup and play as much as his foot will let him. He's a risky start but could help owners is a bind at the wide receiver position.
| Bills hope Sammy Watkins can play Week 12|
HC: Won't push WR to play unless he is ready
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 21, 7:20 pm
|Rex Ryan on Sammy Watkins: "I'm speaking on behalf of every Buffalo Bills fan: I hope he can play some" in Sunday's game. Ryan reiterates Bills won't play him if he isn't ready. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Watkins hasn't played since Week 2. Even though he can come off IR this week, it appears like he'll face long odds of playing more than a few snaps even if he is cleared to play. Unfortunately, the Bills need him more than ever after Robert Woods suffered a knee sprain in Week 11 and doubtful for Week 12. It does sound like Watkins is nearing a return, however, and he'll have three home games against the Steelers, Browns and Dolphins if he can make it back for the fantasy playoffs.
| Sammy Watkins not quite ready yet|
Eligible to practice, come off IR in Week 11
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 14, 5:15 pm
|Bills HC Rex Ryan says Sammy Watkins is eligible to return to practice, but the trainers think he's not ready this week. (Joe Buscaglia on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Watkins reportedly told Ryan he feels "fantastic", but this news casts doubt on the receiver's probable Week 12 return as well. While he is still worth a stash in deeper leagues, the odds of him knocking off rust before the fantasy playoffs are getting slimmer by the week. There's no guarantee he makes it back this season either, although we obviously aren't at that point yet. Robert Woods figures to remain the top receiver in Buffalo's run-based attack for at least another 1-2 weeks.

Missed practice Friday

FFToday's Take: Ryan indicated that Watkins foot injury may keep him out beyond Week 4. This is not only based news for Watkins' owners but Tyrod Taylor owners as well. With Greg Salas also out, Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin, Walter Powell and Brandon Tate round out the WR depth chart.

Marquise Goodwin expected to start
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 25, 8:00 am
|WR Sammy Watkins is out today vs. Cardinals due to his foot injury, per source. Marquise Goodwin expected to start in his place. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Watkins has been questionable throughout the week and it appears will sit this week out. Goodwin and Robert Woods are expected to start at receiver for the Bills but neither are trustworthy fantasy options. Tyrod Taylor's value takes a hit as well in his matchup against Arizona.
| Sammy Watkins active for Week 2|
Earlier reports suggested team doctors may not clear him
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 15, 7:30 pm
|The Bills submitted their list of seven inactive players ahead of Thursday night’s game vs. the Jets, and wide receiver Sammy Watkins was not on it. That means Watkins is active and in the starting lineup. He had been listed as questionable due to a foot injury. A report earlier Thursday said Watkins wanted to play but said team doctors might not clear him. He’s probably still playing in pain and possibly at less than 100 percent, but he’s going to play — at least as long as he can. (Pro Football Talk)|
FFToday's Take: If the fact two defensive-minded teams getting together for the pass-killing spectre that is often Thursday Night Football didn't sour owners on Watkins this week, then perhaps not getting a full game out of him against a highly motivated Darrelle Revis should. This week should be all about getting him through the game without a setback. Owners deep at WR should consider benching him; those that are not should expect WR3 production.
| Sammy Watkins listed as Questionable|
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 14, 1:10 pm
|Wide receiver Sammy Watkins declared he will definitely be in the lineup, but the Bills weren’t willing to go that far. They listed Watkins as questionable after he reported his surgically-repaired foot felt “tired” after the opener. There were reports that Watkins could miss extended time as a result, although the Bills and Watkins have both refuted that idea. (ProFootballTalk)|
FFToday's Take: In all likelihood, Watkins will play but how effective he will be remains a question mark. Watkins posted 11 catches for 136 yards in his last meeting against Darrelle Revis and the Jets.
| Sammy Watkins likely to go Week 2|
WR thought he re-broke surgically repaired foot in Week 1
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 12, 6:30 pm
|With a short week before Thursday's tilt with the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins was sent to get X-rays. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Watkins is playing with pain in his surgically repaired foot, had X-rays and was sent to foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson for review. Rapoport added that at one point after the Bills' 13-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Watkins thought he had re-broken his foot or the screw which was inserted this offseason. The star receiver didn't break the foot, but will likely have to play through pain this season. There is nothing surgically to do with the injury and the Bills don't plan to shut Watkins down. (Chris Brown on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: BuffaloBills.com reporter Chris Brown later tweeted Watkins "got his foot checked out and it's fine". The Bills have a Thursday game against the Jets this week, so at least owners won't have to guess in regards to whether he will play or not. Assuming he can go, he should be in fantasy lineups. Watkins torched Darrelle Revis in Week 17 last season and A.J. Green did likewise in Week 1.

Will have to deal with foot pain
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 12, 10:15 am
|Bills WR Sammy Watkins will likely have to play through pain this year. Nothing surgically to do. Bills don’t plan on shutting him down. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Watkins is reportedly dealing with pain in his surgically repaired foot but treatment options are limited. X-rays taken yesterday came back negative. He'll likely have to gut it out on Sunday's. The Bills passing game was stagnant against the Ravens and will need Watkins to be a prominent fixture if they are going to succeed.
